Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the full lifecycle of data pipelines that feed our agentic AI platform, from ingestion of classified and open-source feeds to low-latency serving of terabyte-scale embeddings used in real-time wargaming simulations across the Indo-Pacific theater.
- • Architect and evolve our streaming ETL stack (Kafka, Flink, Spark on Kubernetes) to guarantee sub-second freshness for adversary-behavior models that senior DoD leaders rely on during live crisis scenarios.
- • Design and maintain the data-contract layer between our reinforcement-learning agents and the petabyte-scale graph that captures force posture, economic coercion patterns, and gray-zone tactics; ensure every edge update is traceable, reproducible, and meets ICD-503 security controls.
- • Lead cross-functional squads of ML engineers, analysts, and cleared linguists to curate mission-relevant datasets—Mandarin SIGINT, AIS ship tracks, satellite imagery, social-media telemetry—transforming raw feeds into labeled, policy-compliant training corpora.
- • Build automated quality gates that detect drift in Chinese PLA doctrine signals; when anomalous patterns emerge, your pipelines trigger retraining jobs and alert warfighters via secure APIs within minutes, not hours.
- • Optimize on-prem GPU clusters and AWS Secret regions for both batch model training and low-latency inference; tune data layout, caching, and serialization to shave milliseconds off decision loops that determine deterrence success.
- • Champion data governance and zero-trust security: implement fine-grained access controls, lineage tracking, and tamper-evident audit logs that satisfy both NSA and partner-nation classification requirements.
- • Mentor junior engineers on defensive coding, secure CI/CD, and the nuances of handling compartmented intelligence while shipping daily to production.
- • Partner directly with Combatant Commands and Indo-Pacific allies to translate operational questions—“How will China react if we reposition THAAD?”—into data contracts, simulation parameters, and ultimately deployable AI recommendations.
- • Contribute to open-source projects where possible, raising the bar for responsible defense AI and attracting the next generation of mission-driven engineers.
- • Continuously evaluate emerging tech—vector databases, confidential-compute enclaves, differential privacy—to keep our platform ahead of adversary counter-AI efforts.
- • Present technical roadmaps and threat-model findings to senior government stakeholders, translating complex data-system trade-offs into clear strategic risk assessments.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years production-grade data engineering in Python, Scala, or Go with deep expertise in Spark, Kafka, and Kubernetes at petabyte scale.
- • Active TS/SCI security clearance (or ability to obtain) and proven experience handling compartmented intelligence under ICD-503 and zero-trust architectures.
- • Demonstrated success designing real-time streaming systems that deliver sub-second latency while meeting strict confidentiality, integrity, and availability requirements.
- • Nice-to-have: advanced degree in CS, EE, or quantitative field; experience with reinforcement-learning data pipelines; Mandarin language proficiency; contributions to open-source data or ML projects.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with quarterly in-person summits in secure facilities and generous travel budget for classified collaboration.
- • Competitive base salary plus equity in a high-growth defense-tech company backed by Andreessen Horowitz and General Catalyst.
- • 100% employer-paid platinum health, dental, vision, and mental-health coverage for you and dependents, plus annual $5k professional-development stipend.
