- • Design, build, and operate large-scale event streaming infrastructure supporting critical production workloads for Deliveroo, DoorDash, and Wolt.
- • Improve the reliability, scalability, observability, and automation of Kafka and internally developed EventBus platforms.
- • Debug complex distributed systems issues including performance bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and production reliability challenges in Tier-0 workflows.
- • Develop infrastructure automation and self-healing capabilities to reduce operational toil and enhance platform resilience.
- • Contribute to incident response, operational readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives for Tier-0 event streaming infrastructure.
- • Collaborate closely with EventBus, Storage, SRE, Data Platform, and Core Infrastructure teams across US and EU regions.
- • Shape the long-term architecture and evolution of Deliveroo’s event streaming platform to support future growth and scalability.
- • Operate and optimize event streaming systems that underpin real-time logistics, marketplace optimization, and business-critical workflows serving millions of customers, riders, and partners daily.
- • Apply strong coding skills in Java, Go, Python, or similar languages to build reliable, maintainable production systems for event streaming platforms.
- • Enhance infrastructure automation, observability, capacity management, and operational excellence for high-availability streaming systems.
- • Work within a hybrid model based at the London HQ — The River Building — with regular in-person collaboration expected.
- • Participate in on-call rotations and operational duties for mission-critical event streaming infrastructure.
- • Maintain deep understanding of Linux, networking, and JVM-based systems to troubleshoot and optimize streaming platform performance.
- • Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to align platform capabilities with product and infrastructure needs across global regions.
- • Contribute to architectural decisions that impact the scalability and resilience of event-driven systems across a three-sided marketplace.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong hands-on experience building or operating distributed systems in production
- • Experience with Kafka or similar event streaming systems as a platform, infrastructure service, or critical production dependency
- • Strong coding ability in Java, Go, Python, or similar languages with a focus on reliable, maintainable production systems
- • Experience operating scalable production infrastructure including debugging, troubleshooting, and improving reliability
- • Strong understanding of infrastructure automation, observability, capacity management, and operational excellence
- • Good fundamentals in Linux, networking, and JVM-based systems, or curiosity to deepen expertise in these areas
