📋 Description
- • Senior Software Engineer (FastAPI & Async Python) role at PhotoRoom SAS, a leading visual solution for e-commerce founded in 2019 and part of Y Combinator's 2020 cohort, serving 300+ million users and processing over 5 billion images annually through mobile app, web platform, and API.
- • You will collaborate with the AI Tools squad to implement and enhance AI features in the PhotoRoom app (Logo maker, AI Images, AI Videos), design and architect new features by chaining internal and external services, and monitor and scale the growing load on the FastAPI service using Datadog to identify optimizations and implement smart caching.
- • The team is remote-friendly with 100+ passionate builders focused on craft, innovation, and collaboration, giving e-commerce businesses tools to create visuals that help them grow by making the hardest parts of selling online disappear.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in high-scale async Python systems, gain hands-on experience integrating AI APIs in production, improve system observability and performance at scale, and take end-to-end ownership of features in a fast-paced, high-autonomy startup environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • Experience designing and updating internal REST APIs operating at scale, collaborating with teams to gather requirements, and monitoring/improving performance using tools like Datadog
- • Strong practical understanding of FastAPI or a similar async Python HTTP framework (must be async)
- • Ability to keep async actually async: identify blocking calls in async handlers, offload CPU-bound work to threads, and protect the event loop
- • Experience with integration testing in large Python projects and reliably wiring multiple external services or APIs together
- • Experience working in a fast-paced startup and thriving in high-autonomy environments where you set direction and own outcomes end-to-end
