📋 Description

• As a Senior Software Engineer with a Full-Stack Frontend Focus at NerdWallet Canada, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital shopping experiences for millions of users navigating critical financial decisions around consumer banking and credit cards. Your work will directly influence how users discover, compare, and choose financial products, contributing to NerdWallet’s mission of bringing clarity to life’s financial decisions through data-driven, high-performance web experiences.
• You will build, maintain, and evolve full-stack applications using TypeScript, React.js, and Next.js, ensuring they are fast, accessible, and optimized for Core Web Vitals and technical SEO to maximize discoverability and user engagement across organic and paid channels.
• Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, organic growth specialists, and paid marketing teams, you will design and implement dynamic, personalized shopping flows that integrate seamlessly with backend APIs and partner systems, enabling rapid experimentation and iteration based on user behavior and business goals.
• You will contribute to platform-wide engineering excellence by improving observability, A/B testing infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and developer experience, while also helping to scale shared UI components and design systems that ensure consistency and quality across NerdWallet’s consumer-facing properties.
• Through active participation in code reviews, technical discussions, and mentorship opportunities, you will help elevate the engineering bar across the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and technical ownership in a fast-paced, impact-driven environment.
• This role offers the opportunity to deepen your expertise in modern full-stack development within a regulated financial context, gaining hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (including CDK), GraphQL and REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, and performance optimization techniques — all while working on products used by millions of Canadians seeking smarter financial choices.

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with proven contributions across both front-end and back-end systems
• Deep expertise in TypeScript, React.js, and Next.js (or similar isomorphic frameworks like Astro or Gatsby)
• Hands-on experience building backend systems using cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Vercel
• Proficiency in designing and consuming RESTful and GraphQL APIs, integrating with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Strong product and UX sensibility with a focus on performance, usability, responsive design, and accessibility
• Familiarity with modern DevOps practices including CI/CD, infrastructure as code (IAC), and observability tools
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset suited for cross-functional teamwork
