📋 Description

• Senior Software Engineer role focused on operating and evolving Grafana Cloud’s next-generation database infrastructure, including 100+ multi-cloud streaming clusters powering Mimir, Loki, and Tempo.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include managing production-critical infrastructure, diagnosing cross-layer failure modes, designing safe upgrade strategies, improving observability and automation, partnering with database and platform teams, and serving as a primary escalation point for incidents.
• Grafana Labs is a remote-first, open-source company with over 20M global users, trusted by enterprises like Bloomberg, JPMorgan Chase, and eBay, fostering a culture of transparency, autonomy, and innovation.
• Opportunity to deepen expertise in distributed systems, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure while influencing reliability, scalability, and operational excellence across high-throughput systems.

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of engineering experience in SRE, platform, production, infrastructure, or distributed systems roles.
• Experience operating distributed systems in production (e.g., Kafka, Redpanda, WarpStream, Postgres, ClickHouse, Snowflake, Cassandra).
• Strong Kubernetes experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure, with familiarity in IaC tools (Helm, Terraform, Jsonnet).
• Solid understanding of distributed systems design and large-scale system trade-offs.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Go preferred).
• Working knowledge of Linux internals, networking, cloud storage, and performance/scaling behavior.
• Experience in blameless incident response and writing high-quality post-incident reviews.
• Clear communicator capable of autonomous work and cross-team collaboration.
