- • Senior Software Engineer I (L3) on the Applications Team at CareMessage Inc., responsible for owning and driving the technical direction of the core SaaS application used by over 400 safety-net healthcare organizations to improve health equity for low-income populations.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include independently owning complex features end-to-end across Ruby on Rails backend and React frontend, mentoring L2 engineers, contributing to architectural decisions, and collaborating with Product, Customer Success, Data, and Engineering teams to reduce administrative burden and deepen patient engagement.
- • CareMessage is a technology non-profit that has reached 20 million patients since 2013, leveraging its Health Equity Engine™ to combine messaging, data, and interoperability to improve clinical outcomes and address social drivers of health, with a mission-driven culture rooted in lived experience and reinvestment of revenue into impact.
- • The role offers the opportunity to lead technical evolution of a mission-critical product, grow as a technical leader in a fully distributed environment, and directly contribute to advancing health equity through scalable, evidence-based software solutions.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep experience building and scaling production web applications end-to-end with fluency in Ruby on Rails (backend) and modern React (frontend).
- • Proven ability to independently own complex features end-to-end, including complex form workflows, data-heavy dashboards, role-based access, and clinic-specific configuration.
- • Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to architectural decisions in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
- • Scientific, evidence-based approach to problem-solving, using data to challenge assumptions and guide decisions in PRDs, documentation, and wikis.
- • Strong commitment to advancing health equity for low-income populations and alignment with CareMessage’s mission-driven, nonprofit model.
