📋 Description

• • Own the stability and reliability of mission-critical life-insurance systems that protect millions of middle-American families. You will start by diving deep into production support, triaging SEV-1 incidents, and eliminating the root causes that keep recurring tickets alive. Your detective work will directly reduce customer wait times and policy-processing delays.
• • Architect, build, and evolve backend services across a polyglot stack: Ruby (Sinatra, Padrino, legacy Rails), .NET C#, and Python. Roughly 90 % of your time will be spent on backend logic, data modeling, and API design; the remaining 10 % will involve light frontend tweaks to keep the user journey smooth.
• • Lead phased modernization initiatives that move monoliths to scalable, event-driven serverless solutions on AWS Lambda. You will craft Terraform modules, define IaC patterns, and shepherd legacy .NET applications through version upgrades while zero-downtime deployments remain non-negotiable.
• • Champion observability and operational excellence. Instrument services with CloudWatch, X-Ray, and custom metrics; set SLIs/SLOs; tune PostgreSQL and SQL Server queries; and automate runbooks so the on-call rotation becomes a learning exercise instead of a firefight.
• • Mentor engineers across three time zones, running architecture reviews, pair-programming sessions, and brown-bag talks. Your code reviews will raise the bar for test coverage, security hygiene, and clean architecture across Ruby, C#, and Python codebases.
• • Drive secure development practices in a regulated environment. You will manage dependency vulnerabilities, enforce least-privilege IAM policies, and ensure HIPAA-aligned data handling—turning compliance into a competitive advantage rather than a checkbox.
• • Collaborate with product managers, actuarial analysts, and call-center stakeholders to translate business rules into resilient software. Your ability to explain complex trade-offs in plain English will shape roadmaps that make life insurance faster, cheaper, and more accessible.
• • Continuously refine CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, and Terraform Cloud. You will cut release cycles from days to minutes, enabling weekly feature drops that delight agents and policyholders alike.
• • Contribute to post-incident reviews that transform outages into systemic improvements. Your blameless postmortems will feed directly into backlog prioritization, ensuring that every lesson learned turns into automated safeguards.
• • Stay curious: prototype emerging AWS services, evaluate new language features in C# 12 and Ruby 3.x, and share findings with the broader Blue Coding guild. Your growth mindset will influence a culture where learning is part of the daily deploy.
