📋 Description

• As a Senior Software Engineer on Airwallex’s Lending Engineering team in Singapore, you will play a pivotal role in architecting, designing, and implementing large-scale, secure, and scalable systems for the company’s next-generation embedded lending platform, enabling enterprise clients to offer innovative credit products globally.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing and developing robust lending services, building secure and well-documented APIs for credit product integration, leading design reviews and system architecture discussions, mentoring engineers, championing resilient distributed systems practices, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and promoting automated testing, code review, and observability to ensure platform stability and performance.
• You will join a Singapore-based team of innovative engineers within Airwallex, a global fintech leader valued at US$8 billion, which powers financial operations for over 200,000 businesses including Brex, Rippling, Qantas, and SHEIN through its unified payments and financial platform.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in scalable backend systems, cloud-native architectures (GCP/AWS), domain-driven and event-driven design, and technical leadership, while contributing to high-impact financial products and growing your career as part of a mission-driven, founder-minded engineering culture.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering with strong exposure to modern engineering practices, CI/CD, and quality engineering
• At least 2 years in a technical leadership role, mentoring engineers and leading engineering strategy definition and execution
• Strong computer science foundation and object-oriented programming skills with proven experience building backend systems (Java/Kotlin and Spring/Spring Boot preferred)
• Extensive experience designing and building RESTful APIs with familiarity in modern API design principles and tools
• Experience with domain-driven design (DDD) and event-driven architectures in production environments
• Proven track record designing and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency, highly available distributed systems at scale
• Cloud experience with GCP (preferred) or AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront, etc.) with Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with observability tooling such as Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus
