Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Senior Software Engineer in Network Simulations at SimSpace, you will serve as the technical lead for the internet simulation platform, designing and building a kernel-level eBPF-based system that replicates real-world internet routing behavior without virtual routers, enabling realistic cyber range environments for defense and enterprise clients.
- • You will own the end-to-end architecture of the eBPF-based routing simulation layer, design the control-plane topology database and in-range proxy agents, define interface contracts, and drive technical decisions across the team while mentoring engineers and collaborating with platform teams on operational models for multi-tenant cyber range deployments.
- • SimSpace is an AI Proving Ground founded by experts from U.S. Cyber Command and MIT Lincoln Laboratory, trusted by governments and enterprises to deliver adaptive, AI-ready defenses through realistic live-fire simulations that compress cyber readiness cycles from months to days, with a culture centered on human-centered values, continuous learning, and innovation.
- • In this role, you will take a patent-pending proof of concept into production-grade scale, shape the technical roadmap of a novel simulation system, deepen expertise in kernel networking and internet topology modeling, and grow as a technical leader in a mission-driven organization focused on securing the digital world.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep expertise in Linux kernel networking and eBPF program development, including XDP, TC hooks, BPF map types, and kernel-space packet processing tradeoffs
- • Strong systems programming skills in C or Rust for eBPF development, and Go or Python for control-plane agent and tooling
- • Solid understanding of real-world internet routing (BGP, ASN topology, CIDR, inter-AS peering) sufficient to model it faithfully without running routing software
- • Experience designing systems with control plane and data plane separation, particularly with distributed components and intermittent controller connectivity
- • Demonstrated technical leadership in setting architectural direction and driving engineering quality across a team
- • Comfort transitioning from research to production engineering, taking proof of concept to reliable, scalable systems
- • Familiarity with Kubernetes as a deployment environment for control plane services and distributed agents
- • Experience with network simulation, traffic shaping, or cyber range infrastructure (strong plus)
- • Prior work in cybersecurity, defense, or government-adjacent environments (plus)
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive base salary range of $160,000 - $225,000 with annual performance-based bonuses
- • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits starting day one, plus savings plans
- • Company-paid mental health support via Spring Health for employees and families
- • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
- • Unlimited vacation and dedicated health & wellness days
- • Paid parental leave for important life events
- • Equity stock options at hire with annual performance-based grants
- • Employee referral rewards of $1,500–$3,500 per qualified hire
- • Subsidized Peloton membership and equipment discounts
- • LinkedIn Learning access for continuous skill development
- • Monthly reimbursements for team connections via SocialSpace Community
- • Additional perks: legal plan, pet insurance, wellness reimbursements
