- • As a Senior Software Engineer on Red Hat's Virtualization team, you will help define and build the next generation of solutions for running Microsoft Windows as a guest operating system on OpenShift Virtualization, contributing to a critical component of Red Hat OpenShift's cloud-native and Kubernetes virtualization offerings.
- • You will architect, design, and implement features related to the Windows guest OS experience, focusing on performance, stability, and interoperability; serve as a primary technical resource for Windows guest issues; contribute to the full development lifecycle; mentor junior team members; engage with upstream communities like Kubernetes, KubeVirt, and QEMU; troubleshoot complex customer-reported problems; and advocate for software development best practices including code quality, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- • You will work within a collaborative, globally distributed team at Red Hat, the world’s leading provider of enterprise open source software solutions, known for its inclusive, transparent, and innovation-driven culture that empowers employees across 40+ countries to bring their best ideas and make a significant impact.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in Windows internals while transitioning into the Linux/Kubernetes ecosystem, gain hands-on experience with cloud-native virtualization technologies, contribute to open source communities, and grow as a technical leader shaping the future of enterprise virtualization on OpenShift.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience as an IT professional (e.g., architect, administrator, or developer)
- • Hands-on experience running MS SQL, Active Directory, and applications on Windows operating systems
- • Experience using PowerShell and WinRM
- • Proven ability to conduct deep debugging and root cause analysis for complex Windows-related issues
- • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- • Willingness and desire to transition into the Linux/Kubernetes (K8s) world
