Senior Software Engineer - Platform

📋 Description

• • Join the Investment Platform Team at Moneybox and help safeguard and evolve the engine that powers over £18 billion in assets for 1.5 million customers. You will own critical parts of a platform relied on every day by savers, investors, first-time buyers and retirees, ensuring it is resilient, performant and ready for the next million users.
• • Write clean, defensive C# code in .NET Core, building REST APIs, background jobs with Hangfire and event-driven workflows on Azure Service Bus and Event Hub. You’ll architect for scale, designing systems that can handle sudden spikes in trading volumes or onboarding surges without breaking stride.
• • Take ideas from vague business concepts to production reality. When stakeholders ask for “a faster way to rebalance portfolios,” you’ll translate that into concrete technical tasks, sequence the work, and course-correct if priorities shift or assumptions prove wrong.
• • Own the full software lifecycle: branch, test, review, merge, deploy and monitor. We release multiple times a day via Azure DevOps pipelines and Terraform-managed infrastructure; you’ll push your own features to Production and watch them run in Datadog dashboards.
• • Be the calm voice during live incidents. When alerts fire at 3 a.m., you’ll join the war-room, triage, rollback or hot-fix, then lead the post-mortem to make sure the same issue never wakes anyone up twice.
• • Collaborate daily with QA engineers, product managers, UX designers, mobile developers and operations. You’ll demo progress in sprint reviews, debate trade-offs in architecture guild sessions and pair-program with junior engineers who are eager to learn.
• • Champion best practices across the department: write Architectural Decision Records (ADRs), create run-books, and set coding standards that make onboarding new engineers a breeze. Your documentation will become the single source of truth for “how Moneybox does it.”
• • Mentor and be mentored. You’ll coach graduates through their first CosmosDB migration while learning advanced Azure patterns from staff engineers. We run internal lightning talks, book clubs and hack-days—your talk on “Resilient Messaging at Scale” could be next.
• • Continuously modernise the stack. Whether it’s experimenting with Durable Functions, evaluating CosmosDB autoscale options or introducing feature flags for safer releases, you’ll keep us at the cutting edge without chasing shiny objects.
• • Influence product strategy. Your insights on latency, cost and regulatory constraints will shape roadmaps, ensuring that new features delight customers and keep the FCA happy.
