- • Senior Software Engineer role focused on building the largest case law dataset to power lawyer-facing AI platforms and B2B data services, directly impacting legal research and decision-making through scalable data infrastructure.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include building data pipelines to enrich legal documents with metadata (e.g., overruling relationships, appeal/remand/consolidation links), ensuring reliability of hundreds of web scrapers, optimizing core utilities for citation extraction and court hierarchy resolution, exposing data via APIs, MCPs, and websockets, and benchmarking core tasks using human and synthetic evaluation.
- • Midpage, Inc. is a remote-first company building foundational legal data infrastructure, aiming to automate labor-intensive legal research tasks currently done by high-cost human reviewers, with a focus on simple, effective solutions to complex problems.
- • The role offers opportunity to deepen expertise in data engineering, pipeline reliability, API design, and legal tech systems, while working on high-impact problems at the intersection of law, AI, and large-scale data processing — with potential to influence product direction and technical architecture.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong technical generalist skills across backend systems, with bonus for fullstack experience
- • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines, including basic to intermediate infrastructure/devops tasks
- • Proficiency in Python and SQL as core technologies
- • Ability to independently design, deploy, and manage end-to-end projects on preferred infrastructure
- • Familiarity with tools such as PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Playwright, GCP, Pinecone, Prefect, or NeonDB (as referenced in stack)
- • Interest or experience in stats/ML/AI is a bonus but not required
