📋 Description

• Develop high-quality software solutions for MariaDB Server components outside the optimizer, replication, and certain storage engines, including query parsing, preparation, and execution.
• Design and implement server-side features such as plugins and utility functions that enhance the core functionality of MariaDB Server.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to translate project goals into technical requirements and deliver robust, scalable solutions.
• Participate in peer code reviews to ensure code quality, consistency, and adherence to architectural standards across the runtime codebase.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex software defects in a multi-threaded, high-concurrency server environment.
• Optimize performance-critical components by applying deep knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and their runtime complexities.
• Maintain and extend server functionality within a Unix/Linux development environment, ensuring compatibility and stability across diverse deployments.
• Stay current with industry best practices, emerging programming languages, and evolving database technologies to inform development decisions.
• Contribute to the evolution of MariaDB Server by integrating feedback from enterprise customers and open-source contributors.
• Work within a globally distributed team to align on priorities, share technical insights, and support continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
• Ensure all code meets security, reliability, and performance benchmarks required by Fortune 500 enterprises and public cloud platforms.
• Document technical designs, APIs, and implementation details to support knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members.
• Engage in technical discussions to evaluate trade-offs between performance, maintainability, and feature completeness in server-side components.
• Apply strong SQL knowledge and familiarity with NoSQL concepts to enhance interoperability and data handling capabilities within the server runtime.
• Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of storage engines under the runtime team’s scope, ensuring seamless integration with the server core.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software development
• 3+ years of experience in server / backend development
• Solid understanding and experience with MariaDB Enterprise Server and/or other RDBMSs
• Strong knowledge in C/C++ (server-side experience with Java or Rust is also beneficial)
• Development experience within a multi-threaded Server environment
• Development experience within a Unix/Linux environment
