Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Senior Software Engineer (Rust) at PhotoRoom SAS, you will play a pivotal role in developing the cross-platform libraries that power the company’s AI-driven photo editing applications used by over 300 million users worldwide, directly enabling creators and enterprises to produce studio-quality images in minutes.
- • You will architect, implement, and deliver high-performance, maintainable Rust-based libraries that serve iOS, Android, and Web platforms, ensuring seamless integration with native app teams and contributing to innovative features powered by WebAssembly, WebGPU, and real-time collaboration technologies.
- • You will own end-to-end feature development — from technical specification and implementation to integration and testing — collaborating closely with product, mobile, and web engineers to maintain consistency and excellence across all user-facing platforms.
- • You will contribute to PhotoRoom’s live collaboration platform, enabling real-time co-editing experiences akin to Figma or Google Docs, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in mobile-first creative tools.
- • You will join a small, agile, multicultural team of ~120 passionate engineers and builders in a profitable, remote-first company that values craft, innovation, and impact, working in English with flexible hours and strong support for relocation and visa processes.
- • You will grow your expertise in systems-level Rust development while gaining deep exposure to cross-platform graphics APIs (OpenGL, Metal, WebGPU), WebAssembly, and high-scale image processing systems, positioning yourself at the forefront of modern client-side engineering.
- • You will have the opportunity to influence technical direction, mentor peers, and shape the foundation of a product used by millions, with clear pathways to leadership and impact in a fast-growing, Y Combinator-backed startup backed by Series B funding and targeting 40% year-over-year growth.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven professional experience developing production-grade software in Rust, with a strong understanding of memory safety, concurrency, and systems-level programming.
- • Demonstrated experience delivering cross-platform client-side code (e.g., for mobile or web) that abstracts complex underlying systems into clean, reusable interfaces.
- • Proficiency in at least one higher-level language such as Swift, Kotlin, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Java, with the ability and willingness to learn and integrate across language boundaries.
- • Experience with graphics or compute APIs including OpenGL, Metal, WebGPU, or WebAssembly is highly preferred; familiarity with Elixir/Erlang is a nice-to-have.
- • Strong sense of ownership: ability to take initiative, make independent technical and product decisions, and drive features from concept to delivery with minimal supervision.
- • Fluency in English (written and spoken); French is not required but welcome.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary range of €90,000–€130,000 per year, with flexibility to exceed for outstanding candidates and adjustments based on cost of living.
- • Stock options/BSPCE (equity participation) as part of the compensation package, aligning your success with the company’s growth.
- • €10,000 relocation bonus to support moving to Paris, including assistance with housing and visa procedures.
- • Fully reimbursed monthly trips to Paris (if working remotely from Europe), with flexibility to work from anywhere in Europe or come to the office more often.
- • Bi-annual company retreats, weekly Happy Hour & Game Time events to foster team bonding and culture.
- • Access to language lessons in English and French to support integration and communication in the international team.
- • Remote-friendly work environment with flexible hours, trust-based autonomy, and extended parental leave policies.
- • Opportunity to work on a product with over 5 billion images processed annually, serving global clients like Amazon, DoorDash, and Decathlon.
- • Part of a profitable, Y Combinator-backed startup with Series B funding, aiming for 40% year-over-year growth and a culture centered on craft, innovation, and inclusion.
