- • Lead, mentor, and develop multiple teams of software engineers through coaching, performance management, and professional growth initiatives.

- • Conduct performance evaluations and recommend compensation adjustments based on individual and team performance.
- • Foster collaboration and teamwork across engineering teams and other departments to enhance cross-functional alignment.
- • Implement lean practices to improve team efficiency without compromising quality or delivery speed.
- • Identify and remove organizational impediments, including hidden bottlenecks that hinder team productivity.
- • Assess and improve team health by monitoring morale, engagement, and psychological safety.
- • Cultivate a culture that encourages experimentation, learning from failure, and continuous improvement.
- • Lead end-to-end hiring processes for engineering roles, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
- • Contribute to department staffing plans, headcount forecasting, and budget development for engineering teams.
- • Collaborate with Nelnet Cyber Security Group (CSG) to ensure all engineering practices comply with company security policies.
- • Establish and enforce engineering standards for coding practices across multiple teams.
- • Mentor software engineers in industry best practices for development, testing, deployment, and system design.
- • Model engineering excellence through hands-on involvement in product development, deployment pipelines, and architecture design.
- • Translate product management requirements into scalable engineering architectures that support future business growth.
- • Drive adoption of AI coding assistants such as Claude and Cursor to enhance developer productivity and code quality.
- • Design and implement auto-scaling solutions for cloud-based applications to ensure reliability and cost efficiency.
- • Deploy and manage AI models using the AWS Bedrock framework to power intelligent features in customer-facing products.
- • Develop custom MCP and API connectors to integrate internal systems with third-party platforms and services.
- • Demonstrate strong bias toward action, delivering solutions and outcomes with urgency and precision.
- • Use sound judgment and emotional intelligence to navigate complex technical and interpersonal challenges.
- • Inspire teams by articulating a compelling vision beyond immediate tasks, fostering optimism and purpose.
- • Maintain realism while motivating teams to exceed expectations and advance their technical capabilities.
