- • Lead the engineering team responsible for Rescale's core cloud computing orchestration engine, which powers a large portion of daily customer platform usage by running jobs across multiple public clouds globally.
- • Develop technical excellence and leadership within a high-performing engineering team, fostering growth and collaboration among engineers.
- • Drive the adoption and effective use of AI-assisted software development practices, including code agents, AI-augmented code review, and automated operational tooling, contributing to organization-wide standards for AI integration in the software development lifecycle.
- • Scale and extend Rescale's core job orchestration engine using VM and Kubernetes-based compute across major public cloud providers to support large-scale engineering simulations.
- • Maintain high operational standards by driving incident response, enforcing SLO discipline, and reducing toil and incident load on critical production systems.
- • Align efforts across Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) and with customer-facing teams (Support, Solutions, Sales) to ensure cohesive product delivery and technical architecture.
- • Balance team and business needs, making strategic trade-offs between reliability investments and feature delivery while promoting sustainable engineering practices.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years of experience managing high-performing software engineering teams of 3–10 people, including senior and individual contributor engineers.
- • Demonstrated technical proficiency as an individual contributor at least to Senior Engineer level, with deep expertise in scalable distributed systems.
- • Hands-on experience using AI tools in the software development lifecycle and a proven track record of driving AI adoption in a team setting in a sustainable manner.
- • Production experience with at least one major public cloud (AWS or Azure) at scale, including familiarity with managed Kubernetes services (EKS, AKS).
- • Experience leading the delivery of at least one multi-quarter architectural change with measurable, quantifiable impact.
- • Background in managing a SaaS system powering a complex backend product, including meaningful on-call responsibilities, incident command, and SLO ownership.
