Senior Staff Backend Engineer

📋 Description

• • Own the architecture and technical direction for key product areas within Kaseya’s multi-tenant SaaS platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance as the customer base grows.
• • Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs (REST/GraphQL/gRPC) that power customer-facing features driven by data, machine learning, and AI.
• • Deliver end-to-end backend features including data schemas, business logic, and integrations, ensuring seamless alignment with product and UX teams.
• • Partner with data scientists and MLOps teams to embed AI/ML capabilities—such as recommendations, automation, categorization, and LLM-powered workflows—into core product workflows.
• • Design APIs, data contracts, and UX flows that make AI/ML features reliable, interpretable, and safe for customers, including implementing guardrails like fallbacks, error handling, and permissions.
• • Ensure telemetry and feedback loops are established to enable data and ML teams to measure model performance, iterate on models, and improve outcomes.
• • Champion operational excellence by leading monitoring, alerting, logging, and runbook development for owned services, and participating in on-call and incident response processes.
• • Drive improvements in system performance, scalability, and resilience for critical paths such as onboarding, reporting, and AI-assisted workflows.
• • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure features meet requirements for authentication, authorization, data privacy, and multi-tenancy.
• • Act as a technical mentor for senior engineers, raising the bar on code quality, design reviews, testing practices, and engineering standards across teams.
• • Lead technical design reviews and cross-functional architecture discussions, particularly at the intersection of product, data, and machine learning.
• • Help define and evolve engineering best practices for API design, frontend patterns, error handling, observability, and incremental delivery.
• • Partner with engineering management to shape roadmaps, staffing decisions, and sequencing for major technical initiatives.
• • Translate complex business problems into simple, robust technical solutions by working closely with product, design, data, and ML stakeholders.
• • Maintain a product-minded mindset, prioritizing customer outcomes, usability, and real-world impact over purely technical achievements.
• • Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term architectural health, ensuring systems remain maintainable and extensible as the platform evolves.
• • Communicate effectively across engineering, product, data, and go-to-market teams to drive alignment and execution on shared goals.
• • Contribute to a culture of accountability, innovation, and high performance by continuously raising the bar on engineering excellence and team impact.
