📋 Description

• As a Senior Staff Engineer on Equinix’s Infrastructure team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital infrastructure by architecting and delivering a next-generation compute and networking platform that enables cloud-like access to Equinix’s global platform—directly supporting the company’s mission to shorten the path to connectivity and power innovation across work, life, and planet.
• You will lead technical excellence in building a highly reliable, scalable platform that integrates virtualization, advanced networking, and containerization technologies, ensuring seamless delivery of Equinix Digital Services while mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Day to day, you will architect, implement, and maintain core platform components using Go and Python, focusing on high-performance networking and compute services; collaborate closely with Product Management to align technical direction with market needs and customer outcomes; drive CI/CD practices to ensure safe, rapid, and reliable code deployment; facilitate cross-functional discussions to resolve design trade-offs around performance, scalability, and reliability; conduct peer code reviews with a focus on security and efficiency; and mentor team members through knowledge sharing, pair programming, and constructive feedback.
• You will partner with Product Management and internal stakeholders to translate product vision into technical roadmaps, ensuring the platform evolves in response to real-world customer demands and emerging opportunities in edge computing and hybrid cloud.
• You will champion a ‘build-it, run-it’ ethos, breaking down silos between development and operations by implementing observability, automation, and incident response practices that reduce mean time to recovery and improve system resilience.
• You will stay at the forefront of emerging technologies—evaluating and integrating advancements in container runtimes, network function virtualization (NFV), DPDK, VPP, and kernel-level optimizations—to keep Equinix’s platform competitive and future-ready.
• You will contribute to a globally distributed engineering team, navigating time zones and cultural differences with strong communication and empathy to ensure alignment and psychological safety across regions.

🎯 Requirements

• Recent and proficient experience with Golang (Go) and Python, including API development and backend service design
• Strong experience building and operating highly reliable distributed systems at scale, including fault tolerance, observability, and failure recovery
• Deep understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies: Kubernetes, Docker, CSI, CNI, and related cloud-native infrastructure
• Uncompromising commitment to implementing robust CI/CD pipelines for all code deployed beyond local development environments
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex distributed system issues under pressure
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly to engineers, product managers, and cross-functional stakeholders
• Proven ability to work effectively in globally distributed teams, navigating time zone and cultural differences with empathy and clarity
• Continuous learning mindset with a track record of staying current with emerging technologies in infrastructure, networking, and virtualization
