📋 Description

• Own and ship complex end-to-end deliveries for Rosso, tem’s core pricing infrastructure, improving correctness, operability, and scalability as transaction volume and complexity grow.
• Design and evolve a stateful, event-driven distributed system where domain logic is the primary source of complexity, establishing clear domain boundaries to prevent long-term architectural drift.
• Partner directly with ML and Data Science teams to integrate forecasting, optimisation, and pricing models into production workflows, acting as a technical bridge between model development and system deployment.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning engineering, product, data, and commercial stakeholders, driving alignment and delivery of technical outcomes beyond coordination.
• Architect systems to handle high-volume quoting activity and large customer counts, proactively identifying and mitigating scalability bottlenecks before they impact operations.
• Raise engineering standards by mentoring Staff and Senior Engineers, strengthening observability, testing practices, and code quality across the team.
• Serve as a trusted technical voice to engineering leadership, translating technical decisions into business outcomes and ensuring accountability for system performance and reliability.
• Drive architectural decisions that are durable and scalable, focusing on APIs, event-driven workflows, and data systems where business logic dominates complexity.
• Contribute to and review production Python code from day one, leveraging meaningful experience with Python-based systems in high-stakes environments.
• Operate with autonomy under ambiguity, asking sharp questions to narrow problem spaces, committing to clear directions, and taking full ownership of outcomes.
• Plan for global scale by designing infrastructure that supports international expansion, multi-product growth, and regulatory compliance in energy markets.
• Improve system resilience and operational health by implementing robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices aligned with production SLAs.
• Collaborate with commercial teams to ensure pricing workflows accurately reflect market dynamics, contract terms, and customer needs.
• Maintain and enhance the integrity of Rosso’s deal-flow pipeline, ensuring accurate pricing from initial input through to signed contract.
• Actively participate in shaping platform strategy and engineering team topology to support sustained growth and technical excellence.

🎯 Requirements

• Operate at Staff+ level with a track record of organisation-wide impact, having owned and shipped major technical initiatives at a high-growth startup
• Deep application architecture experience in complex domains, specifically designing and evolving stateful distributed systems (APIs, event-driven architectures, data systems) where business logic is the hard part
• Meaningful production experience with Python, including contributing to and reviewing Python code in live systems
• Hands-on experience with AWS serverless architecture (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB) in production environments, including managing asynchronous, event-driven workflows
• Ability to drive concrete decisions under ambiguity, commit to directions, and take accountability for outcomes, not just execution
• Proven experience leading cross-team initiatives that span engineering, product, data, and commercial stakeholders, delivering tangible results
