- • As Senior Staff Product Manager for Billing at Kong Inc., you will own the commercial operating layer that translates sales and usage into accurate invoicing, enabling the company to scale its monetization strategy across enterprise and self-serve channels.
- • You will define and execute a multi-year vision for Kong’s billing, entitlements, metering, checkout, subscription lifecycle, and fulfillment systems, ensuring alignment between product, pricing, finance, and go-to-market teams.
- • Working within Kong’s Growth organization, you will sit at the intersection of the company’s evolution from a single-product API gateway to a multi-platform enterprise and the overhaul of its pricing and packaging infrastructure.
- • You will lead the transformation of manual, relationship-driven billing processes into a scalable, productized platform that improves revenue accuracy, customer experience, and operational efficiency.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum 8 years of product management experience in SaaS, with at least 2 years focused on billing, monetization, or pricing domains.
- • Proven ability to reason about billing system architecture and collaborate with engineering to co-design technical solutions for metering, entitlements, and invoicing.
- • Experience driving end-to-end pricing or packaging changes, including financial modeling, configuration, migration planning, sales enablement, and customer communication.
- • Hands-on experience with usage-based monetization models and understanding the trade-offs between simplicity, accuracy, and customer trust in metered billing.
- • Proficiency in querying and analyzing data using SQL, Snowflake, Hex, or similar tools to inform prioritization and measure outcomes.
- • Direct experience working with Stripe or a metered billing platform (e.g., Metronome, Orb, OpenMeter), not solely through engineering intermediaries.
- • Track record of holding billing user interfaces (plan pages, checkout, invoices, usage dashboards) to high design and usability standards.
- • Background in or close proximity to API, infrastructure, or developer-platform products, with comfort navigating technical contexts.
- • Ability to independently define and execute long-term vision for billing, fulfillment, and provisioning to achieve best-in-class outcomes.
