• • Vapi Technologies Inc. is at the forefront of revolutionizing human interaction with technology by establishing voice as the default interface. As a rapidly growing company with over 600,000 developers already on our platform and an addition of over 2,000 daily, we are creating the most configurable platform for deploying voice agents. This role is critical to our mission, ensuring that our rapidly evolving platform is accurately and clearly documented, directly impacting developer experience, support efficiency, and product adoption.
• • In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in managing the product information lifecycle for Vapi. Given our fast-paced development cycle, where documentation can quickly become outdated, you will treat documentation drift with the urgency of a production incident. Your work will directly support our developers by providing them with accurate and accessible information, which is also utilized by our in-product AI agent and our support team for troubleshooting. You will be responsible for transforming complex technical concepts into clear, understandable content that empowers developers to build great products and fosters positive word-of-mouth.
• • Your day-to-day responsibilities will evolve over your first 90 days. Initially, you will focus on becoming deeply familiar with the Vapi platform by actively building and testing its functionalities. You will conduct a thorough review of all existing documentation to assess its current state and identify areas for improvement. A key early task will be to pinpoint the most frequent questions developers ask and provide definitive answers within the documentation. You will also build strong relationships with the support team to gain insights into common user challenges and write and ship your first piece of documentation, incorporating feedback for continuous improvement.
• • Within 60 days, you will take full ownership of all developer-facing documentation, including API references, quickstarts, guides, tutorials, and knowledge base articles. You will design and implement a robust system for maintaining documentation currency as the platform evolves, ensuring accuracy even when engineers may not explicitly communicate changes. Your goal will be to significantly enhance the initial developer experience, making their first 30 minutes on the platform demonstrably better and continuously improving it. You will also provide the support team and Vapi Composer with exceptional resources, reducing guesswork and improving their effectiveness.
• • By the 90-day mark, you will be expected to measurably reduce friction in the developer journey, evidenced by a decrease in support volume, improved activation rates, and fewer engineers being pulled into basic "how-to" explanations. You will establish documentation and information as a significant competitive advantage for Vapi, delivering it with the same rigor as any other product feature. Furthermore, you will set and maintain the highest standards for documentation quality at Vapi, ensuring consistency and accuracy even with the rapid pace of new feature releases.
• • This role reports directly to the VP of Product, underscoring the strategic importance of documentation at Vapi. It is not merely a support function but a critical component of our product experience. While AI can assist in generating documentation, it cannot replicate the critical human element of verification and contextual understanding. Your role will involve leveraging AI tools while applying your expertise to trust and verify all generated content, ensuring its accuracy and clarity for our developer community.
