- • First American Financial Corporation is seeking a Senior Title Examiner to join their Agency Division, a team dedicated to empowering policy-issuing agents with essential resources, services, and underwriting guidance to foster their success. This role is crucial in ensuring the legal soundness of property titles, primarily for residential properties, and contributes to the company's long-standing commitment to excellence since 1889.
- • As a Senior Title Examiner, you will meticulously search public records and examine titles to ascertain the legal condition of property titles. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve abstracting and analyzing a wide array of records, including mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plat and map books. This detailed analysis is essential for determining ownership, identifying legal restrictions, verifying the accuracy of legal property descriptions, and ensuring the completeness of all recorded documents.
- • You will be responsible for writing title products, which involves interpreting and applying established procedural guidelines to create clear and accurate commitments of title. This may include providing underwriting interpretations within defined parameters, ensuring compliance and mitigating risk for the company and its clients.
- • A key aspect of the Senior Title Examiner role is to provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members. You will act as a knowledgeable resource, sharing your expertise and insights to help develop the skills of junior examiners, thereby strengthening the overall capabilities of the team.
- • The role may involve direct customer contact, requiring you to communicate findings and provide explanations regarding title examinations. You will also be expected to perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the team's objectives.
- • This position offers the opportunity to work on assignments that are varied and complex, demanding a high level of title expertise and a demonstrated mastery of relevant skills and knowledge. Your work will directly impact the successful completion of real estate transactions by providing critical information about property titles.
- • About the team or company: First American's Agency Division is built on a foundation of putting its People First, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where innovation and individual potential are encouraged. The company has a rich history dating back to 1889 and is recognized for its commitment to its employees, consistently earning accolades such as being named to the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For® list for eleven consecutive years.
- • What the person can learn or achieve in this role: This role provides an excellent opportunity to deepen your expertise in title examination, particularly with complex residential, commercial, and industrial properties. You will gain advanced knowledge of state-specific requirements and underwriting interpretations, hone your analytical and problem-solving skills, and develop leadership capabilities through mentoring junior colleagues. The remote nature of the position also offers flexibility and work-life balance.
- • Competitive hourly pay range of $26.88 - $35.82.
- • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and a 401k plan.
- • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement within a well-established and respected financial services company.
- • A supportive and inclusive 'People First' culture that values diversity and employee well-being.
- • Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid sick leave.
- • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
