- • Lead the end-to-end design of user interfaces and experiences for Firaxis’ award-winning strategy franchises, translating complex game systems into elegant, intuitive flows that delight both veteran and first-time players.
- • Partner daily with the Lead UI/UX Designer, Project Art Director, Game Designers, Artists, Engineers, and Producers to define interaction patterns, information architecture, and visual language that support core gameplay loops and strategic depth.
- • Own wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes, and pixel-perfect final mock-ups for PC and console titles, ensuring every screen—from main menus to nested mod browsers—feels cohesive, accessible, and on-brand.
- • Champion user-centered design by planning and running usability tests, heuristic evaluations, and telemetry-driven analyses; synthesize findings into actionable recommendations that improve clarity, reduce friction, and elevate overall player satisfaction.
- • Establish and maintain scalable design systems, component libraries, and style guides that empower cross-discipline teams to ship consistent, high-quality UI at the rapid cadence demanded by live-service updates and expansions.
- • Push creative boundaries through motion studies, micro-interactions, and adaptive layouts that celebrate the richness of strategy gaming while respecting platform conventions and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1, Xbox Game Accessibility Guidelines).
- • Mentor junior designers and UI artists, providing constructive critique, best-practice documentation, and growth plans that raise the studio’s collective UX maturity and foster a culture of craft excellence.
- • Collaborate with engineering to translate designs into performant, shippable features—reviewing builds, optimizing assets, and troubleshooting edge cases so that the final experience matches the vision on day one and patch 100.
- • Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging hardware (Steam Deck, next-gen consoles), and player expectations, bringing fresh ideas that keep Firaxis at the forefront of strategy-game UX innovation.
- • Contribute to post-launch content by designing new modes, DLC interfaces, and community-requested features that extend game longevity and deepen player investment.
