đź“‹ Description
- • As an Engineering Manager for the Unity Simulation team at Outsight SA, you will be at the forefront of developing and refining our cutting-edge Shift Simulator. This critical tool is the backbone of our Spatial Intelligence platform, empowering clients to meticulously test, validate, and optimize LiDAR deployments. You will spearhead the creation of synthetic environments populated with realistic people and vehicle flows, enabling pre-installation testing and post-installation validation, thereby significantly accelerating customer adoption and deployment success.
- • Your role is a dynamic blend of technical leadership and people management, where you will guide a talented team of three engineers. You will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction and roadmap for the simulation tool, ensuring its evolution aligns with Outsight's ambitious growth and innovation objectives. This involves not only strategic planning but also hands-on involvement in architectural design and development, ensuring the simulator remains at the pinnacle of performance and scalability.
- • A key aspect of your leadership will be fostering a collaborative environment. You will serve as the central point of communication between the Unity Simulation team, our skilled 3D artists, and the design department. This ensures a unified vision and seamless execution of feature specifications, translating creative concepts into robust, functional simulation experiences.
- • Architecturally, you will be responsible for defining, designing, and potentially restructuring the Unity C# codebase. The goal is to build a highly scalable and maintainable foundation that can accommodate future features and complex simulation scenarios. This involves making critical decisions about design patterns, modularity, and code organization to ensure long-term robustness and ease of development.
- • Performance is paramount. You will be tasked with ensuring the simulator consistently achieves our internal target of 60 frames per second (FPS). This will require a deep understanding of Unity's performance profiling tools, enabling you to identify bottlenecks, optimize memory usage, and implement efficient rendering techniques.
- • You will drive the development of new, sophisticated features. This includes enhancing the realism of vehicle and crowd simulations, leveraging advanced techniques like NavMesh agents to accurately model complex real-world behaviors and interactions. The aim is to create simulations that are not just visually convincing but also behaviorally accurate, providing invaluable insights for our clients.
- • Your leadership will extend to overseeing project execution from conception to delivery. This involves meticulous planning, effective task delegation, and proactive risk management to ensure timely and high-quality releases. You will be responsible for prioritizing features and bug fixes, maintaining a continuous delivery pipeline that keeps the product evolving and responsive to customer needs.
- • You will actively mentor and support the professional growth of your team members. Through regular one-on-one meetings, constructive feedback, and opportunities for skill development, you will foster a high-performing and motivated team environment. Your ability to inspire and guide will be crucial to the team's success and individual career progression.
- • The impact of your work will be direct and significant. By enhancing the capabilities and reliability of the Shift Simulator, you will directly contribute to Outsight's ability to secure and delight high-profile clients in the transportation and infrastructure sectors. A robust simulator accelerates sales cycles, reduces deployment risks, and ultimately strengthens Outsight's position as a leader in Spatial Intelligence.
- • You will collaborate closely with product management and other engineering teams to understand market needs and translate them into technical requirements and actionable development plans. This cross-functional collaboration ensures that the simulator remains aligned with the broader product strategy and customer expectations.
- • Your technical acumen will be applied to ensuring the simulator's integration with other components of the Spatial Intelligence platform, guaranteeing a cohesive and powerful end-to-end solution for our clients.
- • You will champion best practices in software development, including code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, to maintain the highest standards of code quality and development efficiency.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a groundbreaking technology that is shaping the future of how physical and digital worlds interact, providing complex technical challenges and significant career growth potential.
