Site Reliability and DevOps Engineering Lead

📋 Description

• • Lead and mentor a team of Platform and DevOps engineers to ensure high availability, scalability, and security of Micromedex’s mission-critical clinical decision support platform.
• • Define and enforce platform engineering standards, DevOps practices, and operational reliability frameworks across internal teams and third-party vendors.
• • Own end-to-end CI/CD pipeline architecture, standardizing, securing, and fully automating release processes to enable faster, safer deployments.
• • Establish and govern SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets to measure and improve platform reliability, ensuring clinical-grade uptime and performance.
• • Lead incident response for Sev1 events, driving root cause analysis and systemic fixes to prevent recurrence, not just point solutions.
• • Design and implement resilience engineering strategies, including fault-tolerant distributed system architecture and active-active multi-region deployments.
• • Drive proactive risk reduction through observability, monitoring, logging, and tracing frameworks to detect and mitigate failures before they impact users.
• • Own capacity planning, performance optimization, and cost efficiency initiatives for cloud infrastructure and database systems.
• • Embed AI-enabled automation into monitoring, triage, and CI/CD pipelines to reduce operational toil and improve decision-making.
• • Act as technical authority for platform strategy, defining the roadmap for reliability, delivery, and infrastructure modernization.
• • Collaborate with engineering, product, and architecture teams to integrate reliability practices into the software development lifecycle.
• • Manage vendor deliverables and ensure alignment with platform reliability and operational excellence goals.
• • Maintain operational standards, runbooks, and documentation for incident response, system recovery, and platform maintenance.
• • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24×7 support for a clinical-grade platform serving hospitals, payers, and government agencies worldwide.
• • Optimize Java application platforms (OpenLiberty) and databases (DB2, Oracle, PostgreSQL) for performance, scalability, and production stability.
• • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes) to automate and standardize environment provisioning.
• • Foster a collaborative, learning-oriented culture focused on continuous improvement, proactive problem-solving, and knowledge sharing.
• • Occasionally flex working hours to support global team collaboration across time zones and attend periodic on-site engineering summits or team events.
