- • Serve as the primary editor for Complex Media’s social media channels, ensuring all content aligns with the brand’s voice, tone, and editorial standards for global youth culture and music lifestyle audiences.
- • Curate, write, and edit daily social media posts across platforms including Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and Facebook, with a focus on music, streetwear, sports, art, and digital culture.
- • Collaborate with content creators, photographers, videographers, and producers to develop visually compelling and culturally relevant social media assets that drive engagement and audience growth.
- • Monitor trending topics, viral moments, and cultural conversations to rapidly develop timely, platform-optimized content that amplifies Complex’s position at the center of convergence culture.
- • Maintain editorial calendars and content schedules, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with editorial priorities, product launches, and live event activations.
- • Analyze social media performance metrics to optimize posting strategies, identify high-performing content formats, and report insights to the editorial and marketing leadership teams.
- • Ensure all published content adheres to brand guidelines, copyright standards, and platform-specific best practices, including caption length, hashtag usage, and accessibility requirements.
- • Work closely with the commerce team to integrate product placements and marketplace promotions into social content in a native, non-intrusive manner that enhances user experience.
- • Respond to and moderate audience comments and direct messages in a timely and brand-appropriate manner, fostering community engagement and managing potential reputational risks.
- • Stay ahead of emerging social media trends, platform algorithm changes, and competitor activity to continuously evolve Complex’s social strategy and maintain industry leadership.
- • Partner with artist relations and brand partnerships teams to amplify sponsored content and influencer collaborations while preserving editorial integrity and audience trust.
- • Edit and proofread user-generated content submissions and fan-driven campaigns for publication, ensuring cultural sensitivity and alignment with Complex’s values.
- • Participate in editorial meetings to contribute ideas for social-first storytelling, cross-platform campaigns, and multimedia initiatives that extend Complex’s reach beyond traditional content formats.
- • Maintain a deep understanding of Complex’s audience demographics, preferences, and behaviors to tailor content that resonates with global youth culture across regions and platforms.
- • Adapt content for regional and cultural nuances when targeting international audiences, ensuring relevance and resonance without diluting the core brand identity.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience as a Social Media Editor, Content Editor, or similar role in a digital media or entertainment environment
- • Demonstrated expertise in managing high-traffic social media accounts across Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook
- • Strong editorial judgment with a deep understanding of youth culture, music, streetwear, and digital trends
- • Ability to write and edit compelling, platform-specific copy under tight deadlines
- • Experience analyzing social media analytics to inform content strategy and measure performance
- • Familiarity with content management systems and social publishing tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Later)
