- • As a Software Development Manager - Java at WEX Inc., you will play a critical role in leading a small team of developers and Systems Analysts while contributing hands-on to software development, with responsibilities split evenly between technical leadership and coding.
- • Day to day, you will manage team performance, evaluate and respond to customer needs with strategic long-term solutions, resolve reported issues quickly, develop product domain expertise, contribute to application architecture, analyze and modify software enhancements, recommend improvements to development standards, and support end-to-end delivery of software projects on time and on budget.
- • You will join an engineering team focused on delivering reliable software solutions in the payments industry, where collaboration, ownership, and technical excellence are valued, and where you’ll work in a highly regulated environment requiring both agility and precision.
- • In this role, you will grow as a technical leader by mentoring less experienced developers, deepening your expertise in cloud platforms and modern Java ecosystems, influencing architectural decisions, and gaining end-to-end ownership of software delivery lifecycle from conception to deployment.
🎯 Requirements
- • BS in an engineering field or equivalent demonstrable experience
- • 4+ years of experience managing team members
- • 4+ years of experience with Java
- • 2+ years of experience with cloud solutions (Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS)
- • 4+ years of experience working on agile teams to deliver software iteratively
- • Experience with designing and architecting applications
- • Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD)
- • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management, and planning skills
- • Strong verbal and written communication skills
- • Self-motivation with attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting
