Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Lead the engineering team behind Lyric’s payment integrity platform modernization, owning delivery outcomes for full-stack and backend engineers building modular Angular frontends and resilient .NET microservices while being hands-on to unblock architectural decisions, review critical PRs, and jump into code when needed.
- • Own the delivery roadmap for platform modernization—sequencing migration work, API extraction, and frontend decoupling into realistic, high-impact milestones—and remove blockers before the team feels them by addressing cross-team dependencies, unclear requirements, or technical rabbit holes early.
- • Hold the team to high engineering standards without micromanaging: enforce clean PRs, meaningful test coverage, current documentation, and architecture decisions that are recorded and revisited, while getting hands-on when it matters—reviewing critical design decisions, pairing on thorny migration problems, or stepping into code to unblock a stuck workstream.
- • Build and scale AI-assisted engineering practices by setting standards for AI coding tool usage (repo-level agent instructions, prompt playbooks, review standards), coaching engineers on effective AI workflows and judgment, and measuring impact through migration throughput, PR cycle times, test coverage growth, and defect rates.
- • Own the technical direction alongside leads by partnering with senior engineers on architectural calls (service boundaries, API contracts, data migration strategies, event-driven patterns, frontend decomposition), maintaining a living view of tech debt, and staying close to data layer challenges to ensure systematic addressing of database hot spots.
- • Build and develop a high-performing team by hiring, retaining, and growing strong engineers through staffing decisions, effective 1:1s, direct feedback, and real growth paths, while fostering a culture of ownership, psychological safety, and honest communication.
- • Ensure delivery in a regulated environment by making security, privacy, and compliance non-negotiable engineering defaults (least privilege, safe data handling, audit trails), putting real quality guardrails in place (CI that blocks bad changes, automated tests, structured logging, observability), and owning incident response for durable fixes.
- • Partner across the organization to ship things that matter by working with product, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate business priorities into engineering plans with honest trade-offs, representing engineering in cross-functional planning, and communicating delivery status, risks, staffing needs, and technical direction clearly and proactively.
