📋 Description

• As a Software Engineer at Magical, Inc., you will build the systems powering AI agents that automate critical healthcare workflows such as prior authorizations and medical coding, enabling healthcare providers to focus more on patient care by amplifying human expertise through agentic automation.
• Day to day, you will design and build backend and full-stack systems for AI agents, own projects from implementation through deployment and monitoring, improve reliability via run state management and observability, and collaborate with product and design teams to convert complex healthcare SOPs into robust automations.
• Magical is a well-funded agentic automation platform backed by Greylock, Coatue, and Lightspeed with $41M raised, transforming healthcare by deploying AI employees that work in real production environments while keeping humans in control.
• In this role, you will gain deep experience in building scalable, reliable AI-driven systems, working with modern backend stacks, integrating LLMs into production, and solving high-stakes workflow automation challenges in a fast-moving, mission-driven startup environment.

🎯 Requirements

• Built backend or full-stack systems running in production
• Strong fundamentals across databases, APIs, queues, async workflows, and observability
• Comfortable working in TypeScript/Node or a similar backend stack
• Experience integrating AI tools into developer workflow and experimenting with new approaches
• Favors action—shipping, learning, prioritizing, and iterating quickly
• Takes ownership of work and enjoys helping teammates grow
