📋 Description

• Build and ship features for North, Cohere’s AI workspace platform, enabling enterprises to create trusted AI-powered workflows through agents and automations.
• Develop autonomous AI agents that securely interact with sensitive enterprise data systems while maintaining strict privacy and compliance standards.
• Write minimal, high-performance code optimized for low-resource environments with stringent deployment requirements and limited use of popular third-party libraries due to security constraints.
• Design and implement the core platform components including the workflow builder, execution engine, integrations with enterprise tools, debugging tools, observability systems, and feedback loops for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate directly with AI researchers to productionize state-of-the-art models and techniques into scalable, reliable customer-facing applications.
• Work across the full stack—frontend (React/TypeScript) and backend (Python)—to deliver end-to-end functionality for AI workflows that augment or automate real business processes.
• Ensure all software meets high standards for security, privacy, and reliability, often requiring custom solutions instead of off-the-shelf tooling.
• Contribute to the evaluation and monitoring systems that help customers understand, measure, and refine the performance of their deployed AI agents.
• Operate in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift rapidly, requiring agility, ownership, and the ability to execute under ambiguity.
• Read, understand, and debug code outside your primary domain, including systems you did not originally write, to maintain platform stability and feature continuity.
• Deploy and scale RAG and agentic applications that serve millions of users with high performance and low latency.
• Maintain a product-first mindset, prioritizing user impact, clarity, and reliability over technical novelty.
• Contribute to a global engineering team with offices in London, Toronto, San Francisco, and other international locations, collaborating across time zones and cultures.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and sprint planning to ensure alignment with product goals and engineering standards.
• Embrace a culture of ownership where every engineer is responsible for the full lifecycle of the features they build—from concept to deployment to iteration based on user feedback.

🎯 Requirements

• At least two years of professional software engineering experience
• Shipped full-stack production code using Python and React
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments with shifting priorities
• Experience working in both large enterprises and startups
• Strong coding proficiency across the stack with ability to debug and contribute outside primary codebase
• Built and deployed high-performance client-side or server-side RAG/agentic applications at scale
