- • Design, build, and maintain AI-assisted developer productivity tools, code quality automation, and modern CI/CD infrastructure to enhance software engineering productivity across the company.
- • Translate software development requirements into clear software designs, internal developer APIs, and repository templates to standardize workflows and reduce duplication.
- • Lead technical design discussions and establish safe, practical standards for using AI-generated code and agentic tools across the engineering department.
- • Proactively address code quality, testing, and reliability gaps by building robust automated testing frameworks and code-review gating systems.
- • Write clear runbooks, documentation, and training guides to enable engineering teams to adopt AI-assisted development tools responsibly and consistently.
- • Collaborate with other software teams to systematically debug complex issues across system boundaries and ensure safe, reliable release processes.
- • Own distinct systems, features, or services from initial design through production deployment with minimal supervision.
- • Write clean, readable, and well-documented code that adheres to established engineering patterns and best practices.
- • Communicate complex technical concepts in simple, clear language to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- • Operate effectively in ambiguous or rapidly changing environments, translating loose requirements into structured software plans and execution roadmaps.
- • Provide constructive, detailed feedback in code reviews and mentor other engineers on tooling, automation, and engineering best practices.
- • Contribute to the responsible adoption of AI-assisted and agentic coding tools over the next 6–18 months to raise the bar on code quality, testing, and reliability as the engineering organization scales.
- • Work in a high-complexity engineering environment where software interacts closely with scientific instruments and hardware systems.
- • Support the company’s mission to scale clean energy innovation through laser-driven inertial fusion by enabling efficient, reliable, and scalable software engineering practices.
🎯 Requirements
- • Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools and writing software automation or integrations.
- • Experience in software quality practices, automated testing, code review, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python and C++ and experience with web service development.
- • Solid understanding of software architecture, APIs, repository structure, and CI/CD automation.
- • Ability to own systems from design to production and operate independently in ambiguous environments.
- • Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical partners.
