📋 Description

• Design and build operational data systems that power Keycard’s identity and access infrastructure for the agent-native era, including pipelines, storage layers, and APIs that enable near real-time enforcement, feedback loops, and customer insights.
• Balance streaming and batch data paradigms, determining when low-latency streaming is critical for enforcement versus when batch processing delivers clarity and analytical power for security posture insights.
• Integrate external data sources into core systems to support both transactional needs of identity services and OLAP requirements for organizational security analytics.
• Build data systems that serve dual purposes: enabling real-time policy evaluation and surfacing actionable insights through dashboards and APIs used by developers and security teams.
• Work directly with founders, product, and engineering teams building core services and SDKs to ensure data infrastructure aligns with product goals and developer experience.
• Design resilient data pipelines that satisfy both transactional and analytical requirements, with deep ownership over end-to-end architecture from ingestion to consumption.
• Think like a builder, not just an operator — design APIs, storage systems, and pipelines with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and developer ergonomics.
• Operate in a 0→1 environment, making strategic trade-offs to deliver immediate value while laying foundational architecture for long-term system growth and evolution.
• Use iteration and asynchronous communication to accelerate learning loops, documenting plans clearly and knowing when to escalate via call for alignment.
• Contribute to shaping the data architecture of a category-defining company from the ground up, influencing how data systems interact with autonomous AI agents.
• Enable developer-facing data tools and interfaces that expose underlying systems in powerful, intuitive ways for internal and external users.
• Actively experiment with agent-based workflows (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, MCP) and apply insights to improve data system design for agent-native environments.
• Help define a culture that embeds AI into the company’s foundation, using agents internally to build and iterate on Keycard’s own infrastructure.
• Collaborate with a distributed team of repeat founders and builders from Snyk, Auth0, HashiCorp, and Heroku to build secure, scalable, and delightful developer tools.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong experience designing resilient data pipelines that balance streaming and batch paradigms for both transactional and analytical use cases.
• Fluency in Python, Go, and/or Rust, with hands-on experience building systems using Kafka, Parquet, and Iceberg.
• Proven ability to thrive in 0→1 environments, making strategic trade-offs to deliver immediate value while building for long-term scalability.
