Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Architect, build, and maintain scalable, high-quality applications that power eHealth’s consumer health-insurance marketplace, directly impacting millions of Americans who rely on us to find affordable, life-changing coverage.
- • Own features end-to-end—from whiteboard architecture sessions to production deployment—using Node.js, React.js, Vue.js, and GraphQL to deliver resilient backend services and pixel-perfect, mobile-first UIs.
- • Translate Figma/Sketch UX mockups into accessible, WCAG-compliant interfaces that load fast and feel intuitive on every device, leveraging modern CSS Grid/Flexbox, ES6+, and progressive-enhancement techniques.
- • Design and evolve RESTful and GraphQL APIs that orchestrate policy data, pricing engines, and third-party carrier integrations while enforcing strict data-integrity, security, and HIPAA-compliant handling of PHI/PII.
- • Collaborate daily with Product Managers to break epics into sprint-sized engineering tasks, negotiate scope, and ship iteratively so new plan-search, enrollment, and comparison features reach consumers weeks faster.
- • Partner with UX Researchers and QA Engineers to instrument real-user metrics (LCP, CLS, FID), run A/B tests, and continuously refine flows that reduce drop-off and increase conversion for Medicare, individual, and small-business shoppers.
- • Contribute to our growing component library and design-system, ensuring every new card, modal, and form meets brand standards, accessibility guidelines, and performance budgets across dozens of micro-frontends.
- • Integrate and extend third-party services—identity verification, payment gateways, CMS (WordPress), CRM, and AI-driven recommendation engines—while abstracting vendor quirks behind clean internal SDKs.
- • Champion code quality through rigorous pull-request reviews, automated testing (Jest, Cypress, Postman), and CI/CD best practices in GitHub Actions, keeping mainline green and deployable multiple times per day.
- • Optimize performance at every layer: database indexing (MySQL/PostgreSQL), caching strategies (Redis/CDN), serverless autoscaling in AWS, and code-splitting/lazy-loading on the frontend to hit aggressive Core Web Vitals targets.
- • Apply security-first development: OWASP top-10 hardening, dependency scanning, secrets management, and quarterly penetration-test remediation, safeguarding sensitive health and financial data.
- • Leverage AI-assisted tooling such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor to accelerate boilerplate generation, improve test coverage, and free mental bandwidth for higher-level problem solving.
- • Participate in architecture guilds and guild-wide guilds to propose new patterns—micro-frontends, BFF layers, event-driven workflows—that future-proof our platform for 10× traffic growth.
- • Mentor junior engineers through pair-programming, brown-bag sessions, and career-path guidance, reinforcing eHealth’s culture of continuous learning and inclusive collaboration.
- • Demonstrate eHealth’s core values—transparency, trust, and consumer advocacy—in every commit message, stand-up update, and cross-team interaction, ensuring technology decisions always map back to helping people get the care they deserve.
