Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Join Watershed, the leading enterprise sustainability platform, as a Full-Stack Software Engineer and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our groundbreaking products. We empower industry giants like Airbnb, Carlyle Group, FedEx, Visa, and Dr. Martens to effectively manage their climate and ESG data, generate precise, audit-ready metrics for both voluntary and regulatory reporting (including CSRD), and drive tangible decarbonization efforts. This is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage, mission-driven startup where your contributions will directly influence our product direction, engineering culture, and overall company trajectory.
- • As a Full-Stack Software Engineer at Watershed, you will be instrumental in the entire product development lifecycle. This includes hands-on coding, engaging directly with customers to understand their challenges and needs, developing a deep mastery of the complex climate domain, and contributing to strategic decision-making. You will be part of a dynamic team that thrives on innovation, collaboration, and a shared commitment to building impactful solutions.
- • Our technical landscape is built around a sophisticated web frontend that serves our diverse customer base, complemented by a robust backend infrastructure handling intricate climate data, advanced climate models, and seamless integration with various financial systems. You will be working extensively with modern technologies such as React, TypeScript, CSS, and Node.js. While prior expertise in our specific stack is not a prerequisite, a demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies is highly valued. We believe in empowering our engineers to pick up new tools and frameworks efficiently.
- • We are seeking individuals who embody our core cultural values: customer-obsession, outcome-orientation, and inclusivity. As an early member of our team, you will have the chance to actively contribute to and evolve these principles. We are looking for true owners who take initiative and are passionate about building exceptional products.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will be diverse and impactful. You could be tasked with developing new, interactive data visualizations designed to help climate leads gain deeper insights into their company's emissions. Alternatively, you might focus on building robust APIs that streamline carbon data access for both our customers and fellow engineers. Another key area of contribution could involve creating sophisticated tools that enable financial institutions to accurately measure and report emissions across their extensive portfolios. You will also be involved in developing intuitive tools that empower customers to effectively ingest, interpret, and leverage their business data for sustainability initiatives.
- • A significant aspect of this role involves shipping code to production from day one, allowing you to see the immediate impact of your work. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Designers, Climate Scientists, and Data Scientists, to conceptualize, build, and iterate on software solutions that address critical customer needs in climate data management and reporting.
- • This role offers a unique blend of technical challenge and mission-driven purpose. You will be at the forefront of a rapidly growing industry, contributing to solutions that have a real-world impact on global sustainability efforts. We encourage a proactive approach to problem-solving and a continuous drive for improvement, both individually and as a team. Your ability to translate complex requirements into elegant, scalable software solutions will be key to your success.
- • We foster an environment where engineers are encouraged to take ownership, experiment, and contribute to architectural decisions. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, participate in code reviews, and help define best practices for our growing engineering organization. The fast-paced startup environment at Watershed ensures that no two days are the same, offering continuous learning and development opportunities.
- • Beyond the technical aspects, you will be an integral part of a company culture that values transparency, collaboration, and mutual respect. We believe in building a supportive and inclusive workplace where everyone feels empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. Your insights and perspectives will be highly valued as we continue to grow and innovate.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong preference for experience in Node.js web development or data pipelines.
- • Proven track record of building scalable software solutions, ideally starting from user needs and iterating through development.
- • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and programming languages.
- • Enthusiasm for working in a startup environment and a proactive approach to contributing to the evolution of a growing engineering team.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary and equity package.
- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
- • Generous paid time off and holidays.
- • Opportunity to work on a mission-critical product with significant societal impact.
- • Professional development and learning opportunities.
