📋 Description

• As a Software Engineer, Full Stack - AI & Data at Rescale Inc., you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s mission to revolutionize engineering and scientific discovery through intelligent automation, applied AI, and scalable data infrastructure. Your work will directly impact how industries such as aerospace, energy, life sciences, and manufacturing accelerate innovation by enabling seamless integration of high-performance computing, data management, and generative AI capabilities.
• You will design, build, and operate backend services that power generative AI features, including LLM-backed APIs, intelligent agents, retrieval systems, and knowledge layers, while ensuring secure and efficient connections to both internal platforms and external systems.
• You will develop and scale resilient, high-throughput data infrastructure that supports file management and data movement between customer environments, cloud object storage (AWS S3, Azure Blob, GCS), and compute clusters, with a focus on optimizing performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency at scale.
• You will work across the full stack—writing backend services in Python, Java, or Go; managing cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP using containers and Kubernetes; and making occasional frontend adjustments to deliver cohesive, user-facing experiences in close collaboration with product, design, and engineering teams.
• You will contribute to a culture of innovation and inclusion by embracing ambiguity, advocating for user-centric solutions, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional partners to translate complex technical challenges into intuitive, impactful products.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and AI/ML integration while gaining hands-on experience with LLMs, agent-based systems, and modern data pipelines—positioning you at the forefront of AI-driven engineering platforms.
• You will have the opportunity to influence the evolution of Rescale’s core platform, shaping how engineers and scientists interact with data and AI tools to solve some of the world’s most complex R&D challenges.

🎯 Requirements

• 1-3 years of backend software engineering experience building and operating distributed systems in a major cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong proficiency in at least two of Python, Java, or Go, with demonstrated ability to work across service boundaries and design robust APIs.
• Hands-on experience with data-intensive technologies such as object storage, relational databases, caching layers, and message queues/streams, along with a strong interest or background in applying LLMs or AI agents to product development.
