Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Design and build the core identity, authentication, authorization, and data systems that enable AI agents to prove trust, enforce policy, and operate autonomously at global scale.
- • Develop a control plane for agents that handles identity propagation, policy enforcement, audit logging, and runtime governance with sub-10ms auth decision latency across cloud, edge, and hybrid deployments.
- • Build dynamic, multi-tenant systems that support secure, contextually-scoped, short-lived credentials for mixed human-machine workflows, replacing static, long-lived roles and credentials.
- • Engineer distributed services and APIs that serve as the foundation for developer-facing SDKs, ensuring seamless, trusted end-to-end experiences for builders of agentic applications.
- • Work directly with founders, product, design, and engineering teams to shape the architecture of Keycard’s platform and internal agent-native workflows.
- • Translate complex identity primitives — including OAuth, SCIM, OIDC, and mTLS — into developer-friendly products with clear semantics, not just infrastructure components.
- • Design extensible data models with strong considerations for consensus, transactionality, and scalability in distributed environments.
- • Write production-grade code in Go, Rust, or similar systems languages, moving fluidly between core infrastructure, SDKs, and APIs.
- • Lead by example in technical excellence, mentoring peers and raising the bar for code quality, documentation, and async communication.
- • Contribute to shaping Keycard’s internal culture as an agent-native engineering organization by actively using AI agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, MCP) in daily workflows.
- • Collaborate on designing APIs and SDKs with exceptional ergonomics that developers rely on for building secure, autonomous applications.
- • Help define and implement plugin frameworks, WASM-based extensions, or dynamic policy engines that allow organizations to tailor the platform to their specific needs.
- • Participate in open source contributions or ecosystem development around identity, security, or CNCF projects where applicable.
- • Balance rapid iteration and shipping with long-term system design, making hard trade-offs to accelerate learning while laying scalable foundations.
- • Ensure security, reliability, and visibility for platform and security teams as they transition their organizations to agent-native operations.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep experience building and operating identity, authentication, and authorization systems with expertise in OAuth, SCIM, OIDC, and mTLS
- • Strong distributed systems instincts with proven ability to design for security, multi-tenancy, and reliability using consensus and transactional models
- • Fluency in Go, Rust, or similar systems programming languages with full-stack comfort from infrastructure to SDKs and APIs
- • Proven ability to thrive in 0→1 environments, making trade-offs to ship quickly while building for long-term scalability
- • Leadership in technical excellence with clear communication through written plans and async updates, and ability to collaborate effectively in a remote-first setting
- • Experience designing developer-facing APIs, SDKs, or libraries with high ergonomics that are widely adopted
🏖️ Benefits
- • Market-competitive salary and generous equity package with 4-year vesting and 1-year cliff
- • Health, dental, vision, and paramedical coverage for employee and family
- • 4 weeks of vacation, 11 statutory holidays, and 1 annual volunteer day
- • New MacBook Pro and $500 stipend for peripherals
- • Access to the best available AI tools to support agent-native workflows
- • Remote-first flexibility with team focused in North and South America
