Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join Everbridge as a Software Engineer II and help safeguard millions of lives by extending our SaaS-based Critical Event Management (CEM) platform. You will be part of a fully remote, cross-functional R&D squad that turns real-time risk data into life-saving action for enterprises and government agencies worldwide.
- • Own end-to-end feature delivery—from refining requirements with Product to deploying containerized services on Kubernetes—while keeping the platform resilient during hurricanes, cyber-attacks, and other critical events.
- • Design and implement scalable, multi-threaded back-end services in .NET Core and ASP.NET, leveraging MongoDB for high-throughput event ingestion and low-latency queries that support tens of thousands of concurrent users.
- • Craft intuitive, performant front-end experiences in TypeScript/JavaScript with modern frameworks (Angular/React), ensuring that emergency operators can visualize threats and launch communications in seconds, not minutes.
- • Integrate with third-party data feeds (weather, IoT sensors, social media) and build robust APIs behind an API Gateway to expose enriched, geospatially tagged event data to both internal teams and external partners.
- • Champion DevOps best practices: write infrastructure-as-code, automate CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins/GitLab, and monitor services with distributed tracing so deployments are boring and rollbacks are rare.
- • Collaborate daily with Site Reliability Engineers to tune autoscaling policies, optimize Docker images, and maintain 99.9 % uptime SLAs—even when traffic spikes 10× during global crises.
- • Participate in two-week Scrum ceremonies: sprint planning, backlog grooming, and blameless retrospectives. Your input will directly influence quarterly OKRs and the technical roadmap.
- • Tackle technical debt proactively—refactor legacy modules, introduce unit/integration tests, and document architectural decisions in ADRs so future engineers can move fast without breaking things.
- • Serve as a mentor to junior developers through pair programming and code reviews, raising the bar for code quality, security, and inclusive engineering culture.
- • Experiment with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate prototyping and reduce boilerplate, while ensuring human oversight for safety-critical logic.
- • Contribute to the open-source community by upstreaming generic components and sharing lessons learned at meetups and internal tech talks.
- • Rotate through on-call responsibilities with a follow-the-sun model, ensuring rapid incident response and continuous improvement of runbooks and monitoring thresholds.
- • Stay curious: evaluate emerging technologies—whether it’s edge computing for faster alerting or advanced geospatial libraries—and present findings to the architecture guild.
- • Your code will literally help first responders evacuate cities, hospitals maintain continuity of care, and airlines reroute fleets around volcanic ash clouds. The impact is immediate, measurable, and deeply rewarding.
