đź“‹ Description
- • Join Axon and be a Force for Good. As a Software Engineer II, you will be a core contributor to the software systems that keep critical infrastructure, public events, and military operations safe from drone threats. You will work on Dedrone’s detection platform, building and evolving low-level, performance-critical software that operates at real-world scale with real-world consequences.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance C++ applications within Dedrone’s detection and tracking platform, contributing to the incremental migration of C++ components to Rust, implementing and optimizing parallel processing pipelines on Linux systems, collaborating in code reviews and architecture discussions, diagnosing and resolving performance bottlenecks and concurrency bugs, and participating in defining engineering standards as the team evolves its tooling and language stack.
- • You will be part of a high-performing engineering team based in Kassel, working in a hybrid schedule (onsite Tuesdays–Fridays, remote Mondays). The team values in-person collaboration, clean code, mentorship, and shared success, with a mission-driven culture focused on protecting life through innovative safety technology.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in Rust and C++, gain hands-on experience with real-time systems and parallel processing, contribute to a strategic modernization effort, and grow as a software engineer working on technology that directly impacts public safety and national security.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years of professional software development experience with a strong foundation in C++
- • Practical, hands-on experience developing Rust applications, including shipped Rust code and understanding of ownership and concurrency model
- • Solid understanding of parallel and concurrent programming patterns and their safe, efficient application
- • Experience developing and deploying software on Linux systems, including familiarity with system-level APIs and tooling
- • Methodical approach to performance: profiling before optimization and understanding the cost of memory, threads, and I/O
- • B.Sc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience
🏖️ Benefits
- • Hybrid work schedule: onsite Tuesdays–Fridays, remote Mondays (unless accommodation approved)
- • Opportunity to work on mission-critical technology that protects life and enhances public safety
- • Chance to deepen Rust expertise while contributing to a strategic language migration effort
- • Collaborative, in-office culture designed to foster mentorship, teamwork, and shared success
- • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and equal opportunity employment
- • Support for accommodations during the application process via [email protected]
