- • As a Software Engineer II, Backend on Dave’s Risk team, you will design, build, and maintain critical backend services that power real-time risk signals, identity validation, and fraud prevention systems—directly protecting millions of financially vulnerable members while enabling seamless access to essential financial products like ExtraCash and upcoming BNPL offerings.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities include developing scalable backend services using TypeScript and Node.js, writing reliable and maintainable code with thorough test coverage, improving system observability through monitoring and logging, collaborating with product and engineering teams to translate user needs into durable technical solutions, and participating in code reviews and incremental feature delivery via thoughtful pull requests.
- • You’ll join a mission-driven, virtual-first fintech company that is redefining financial access for underserved Americans, working within a collaborative Risk team that partners closely with product, data, and platform engineers to balance security, performance, and member experience across Dave’s growing ecosystem.
- • In this role, you’ll deepen your expertise in building high-scale, observable backend systems in production environments, gain hands-on experience with modern cloud infrastructure (GCP, Docker, Kubernetes), and contribute to systems that have a direct societal impact by promoting financial inclusion and responsible lending practices.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- • 2+ years of professional software development experience
- • Experience building backend services using TypeScript, Node.js, or similar modern programming languages
- • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to design reliable and maintainable systems
- • Experience collaborating with engineers and product partners to deliver production-ready solutions
- • Familiarity with distributed systems and operating backend services in production environments
