  • • Design, develop, and maintain backend services that support Poshmark’s marketplace experience, ensuring reliability and high performance for millions of daily users.
  • • Collaborate with peers and senior engineers to implement scalable, efficient, and maintainable systems using best practices in code structure and architecture.
  • • Write clean, well-documented, and well-tested code with a focus on quality, readability, and long-term maintainability.
  • • Participate in code reviews to provide and receive constructive feedback, continuously improving technical skills and team standards.
  • • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across distributed systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective fixes.
  • • Contribute to the improvement of development processes, tooling, and team workflows to enhance engineering efficiency and product delivery.
  • • Become proficient with Poshmark’s tech stack, development tools, and codebase within the first six months of employment.
  • • Ship production-quality code with guidance from senior team members, delivering features that directly impact user experience.
  • • Take ownership of small to medium-sized components or features, managing their lifecycle from development to deployment.
  • • Collaborate effectively with Product, QA, and Design teams to align technical implementation with business goals and user needs.
  • • Independently deliver end-to-end features from design to production after 12 months, demonstrating autonomy and technical ownership.
  • • Contribute to performance improvements and scalability initiatives that enhance system efficiency and support platform growth.
  • • Develop a deep understanding of Poshmark’s system architecture and make data-driven technical decisions based on system behavior and metrics.
  • • Participate in technical discussions, proposing and advocating for improvements to platform reliability, observability, and efficiency.
  • • Mentor interns or new hires by providing guidance, code feedback, and onboarding support to foster team growth and knowledge sharing.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 2 - 4 years of professional experience (including internships) in backend software engineering
  • • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals — data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
  • • Proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Ruby, Java, Python, or Go)
  • • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and caching or message-queue systems
  • • Interest in cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, or similar) and scalable architectures
  • • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
