• You will play a pivotal role in building and enhancing sophisticated automation systems designed to manage complex insurance servicing tasks. This includes end-to-end processes such as policy endorsements, cancellations, document uploads, and reinstatements, directly contributing to operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• A key focus of your work will be developing strategies and implementing automations to reduce policy cancellations and improve renewal rates, ensuring our users consistently receive the best possible coverage and value.
• You'll be instrumental in composing robust backend business logic that drives these automations, meticulously respecting the intricate rules and regulations of various insurance carriers.
• Design and implement efficient backend pipelines responsible for synchronizing customer policy data, delivering critical alerts in a timely manner, and powering seamless re-shopping experiences for our users.
• Optimize and scale our internal tools, akin to an in-house DocuSign for servicing, with the goal of minimizing agent intervention and maximizing self-service capabilities.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Data, and Engineering Operations, to proactively identify and address potential customer churn and enhance overall customer retention strategies.
• You will work within fast-paced sprint cycles, with an average delivery time of 1-2 weeks for new automations, fostering a culture of rapid iteration and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to the continuous enhancement of our backend systems, APIs, and microservice architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Engage in refactoring major parts of our codebase, simplifying legacy systems, rebuilding core functionalities, and laying the groundwork for the platform's growth over the next three years.
• This role offers a unique opportunity to work across the full stack, touching everything from backend business logic and data pipelines to potentially frontend components, providing a holistic development experience.
• You'll be part of a remote-first, global team, collaborating asynchronously across North America and Asia, with regular syncs and in-person offsites to foster strong team cohesion.

🎯 Requirements

• At least 2 years of full-stack engineering experience building production-grade software, with a preference for prior experience in large-scale distributed systems for consumer-facing applications.
• Strong foundational knowledge in data structures, algorithms, and systems design.
• Proven ability to tackle ambiguous problems, break them down into actionable code, and iterate rapidly.
• Demonstrated ownership mentality, taking responsibility for end-to-end outcomes and continuously improving systems.
• Comfort and proficiency in asynchronous collaboration with a global team, coupled with excellent communication skills.
• A curious and adaptable mindset, with a passion for learning, exploring new tools, and understanding the broader context of your work.
