• As a key member of our Core Marketplace Automation Team, you will be instrumental in developing sophisticated automation systems. These systems empower our users to self-serve their needs, maintain continuous insurance coverage, and enjoy the smoothest possible experience. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to software that directly impacts millions of users daily, automate intricate business processes, and redefine the landscape of insurance technology.
• Your responsibilities will encompass building robust automation systems that manage complex insurance servicing tasks from initiation to completion. This includes, but is not limited to, policy endorsements, cancellations, document uploads, and reinstatements. You will also focus on developing features that proactively reduce policy cancellations, enhance renewal rates, and ensure our users consistently benefit from optimal coverage.
• You will thrive in a fast-paced development environment with sprint cycles averaging 1–2 weeks, enabling you to ship new automations rapidly. A significant part of your role will involve composing sophisticated backend business logic that drives these automations, meticulously considering and respecting the complex rules and regulations of various insurance carriers.
• Furthermore, you will design and implement efficient backend pipelines responsible for synchronizing customer policy data, delivering critical, timely alerts to users and internal teams, and powering seamless re-shopping experiences for insurance policies. This includes optimizing and scaling our internal tools, akin to an in-house DocuSign for servicing, with the ultimate goal of minimizing agent intervention to near zero.
• Collaboration is at the heart of our success. You will work closely with product managers, data scientists, and engineering operations teams to anticipate customer churn, identify opportunities for improvement, and enhance overall customer retention strategies. We operate with a philosophy of asynchronous communication, minimizing unnecessary meetings and maximizing productivity through tools like Asana and Slack, while fostering strong collaboration across different time zones.
• Continuous improvement of our backend systems, APIs, and microservice architecture will be a core aspect of your role. You will be encouraged to explore and integrate new technologies, including AI/LLM tools, to enhance our platform's capabilities and efficiency. This role offers substantial ownership, allowing you to take initiative, learn rapidly, and potentially mentor other engineers as you grow within the company.

🎯 Requirements

• At least 2 years of full-stack engineering experience building production-grade software, with a preference for prior experience in large-scale distributed systems for consumer-facing applications.
• Strong foundational knowledge in data structures, algorithms, and systems design.
• Proven ability to tackle ambiguous problems, break them down into actionable code, and iterate quickly.
• Demonstrated ownership mentality, taking responsibility for end-to-end outcomes and continuously improving built systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with comfort working asynchronously across teams and time zones.
• High degree of curiosity and adaptability, with a passion for learning and exploring new tools.
