Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Lead the Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Product Team for the C2BMC-G organization, shaping the next generation of missile-defense decision-support tools that directly enable the U.S. President, Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders to plan, execute, and monitor global and regional missile-defense operations in real time.
  • • Architect and deliver high-fidelity emulators, third-party simulator integrations, and scenario-generation frameworks that replicate complex sensor/weapon behaviors, orbital dynamics, EO/IR and RF phenomenology, and battle-management logic—ensuring every tactical algorithm is stress-tested before it reaches the warfighter.
  • • Own the full algorithm lifecycle: translate stakeholder needs into rigorous mathematical models, author Algorithm Description Documents (ADDs), prototype in MATLAB/Python, produce reference Java implementations, and commit everything to Git with comprehensive Cucumber unit tests for continuous integration.
  • • Drive nightly DevSecOps pipelines (Jenkins, Bitbucket, Jira) that automatically validate models, run Monte-Carlo regressions, and generate performance dashboards—catching defects early and accelerating delivery cycles for the 20+ Integrated Product Teams that depend on your work.
  • • Partner daily with C2BMC-G Project Owners and the Release Train Engineer to groom, prioritize, and decompose the M&S backlog in Jira, ensuring each sprint delivers measurable value toward larger program increments.
  • • Provide on-call technical expertise to the adjacent Experimentation Lab (X-Lab), rapidly prototyping new tracking, discrimination, and resource-management algorithms that may be folded back into the operational baseline.
  • • Deliver crisp technical briefings to government customers, FFRDC partners, and senior leadership at Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), translating complex modeling results into actionable recommendations that influence multi-million-dollar investment decisions.
  • • Mentor junior engineers in linear-algebraic state estimation, Kalman filtering, coordinate transformations, and statistical V&V techniques—growing the next generation of missile-defense modeling talent.
  • • Contribute to the verification & validation of tactical software by generating synthetic truth datasets, designing test matrices, and automating pass/fail analytics—ensuring every line of code meets the exacting standards of a system that defends the homeland.
  • • Travel up to 10 % to MDA test sites and Space Force facilities to support ground/flight test events, providing real-time modeling support and post-test data analysis that directly feeds system-performance assessments.
  • • Champion a culture of intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity, and fearless innovation—where bold ideas, rigorous math, and disciplined engineering converge to solve problems others deem impossible.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s in STEM plus 8 years’ experience (or Master’s plus 6, PhD plus 4, or 12 years in lieu of degree) with proven depth in math, physics, probability, and statistics.
  • • Active DoD Secret clearance at time of application with ability to obtain TS/SCI SAP.
  • • Demonstrated proficiency in MATLAB or equivalent (Python, Java, C++, etc.) for prototyping, data visualization, and algorithm development.
  • • Hands-on experience with DevSecOps toolchains—Git, Jenkins, Jira, Cucumber, Confluence—and the discipline to maintain rigorous automated testing.
  • • Strong written/verbal communication skills enabling clear briefings to both technical teams and senior government stakeholders.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Base salary range $124,900–$187,300 plus annual performance bonuses and overtime eligibility.
  • • Comprehensive health, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) with company match; paid holidays and generous PTO.
  • • Cutting-edge classified lab environment with access to the latest missile-defense and space-surveillance technologies.
  • • Clear career path into senior technical fellow or engineering management roles within Northrop Grumman’s 90,000-employee global enterprise.
