📋 Description

• As a Software Engineer on ICF International's Health Engineering Solutions (HES) team, you will play a pivotal role in developing a next-generation reporting and analytics system that directly impacts healthcare quality by collecting, computing, and publicly reporting outcomes-based hospital quality measure data for CMS, enabling better patient care and informed consumer decisions across the United States.
• You will collaborate with a dynamic, mission-driven team of engineers, architects, and product owners to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise applications using modern cloud-native technologies, contributing to a system used by hundreds of thousands of daily users to improve hospital transparency and quality of care.
• Day to day, you will design and develop microservices and serverless applications using AWS technologies including Lambda, ECS/Fargate, and API Gateways; implement responsive user interfaces with React and Node.js; and integrate backend services via OpenAPI specifications to ensure seamless data flow and system interoperability.
• You will work closely with UX designers and product owners to translate user requirements into technical solutions, participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives), and collaborate with DevOps engineers to implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Terraform, and GitHub for automated testing, infrastructure as code, and reliable deployments.
• Your responsibilities include conducting and participating in code and design reviews, writing automated tests, troubleshooting production issues with the support team, and ensuring adherence to architectural, coding, and security standards while maintaining high code quality and system reliability.
• You will continuously learn and apply best practices in full-stack development, cloud architecture, DevOps practices, and healthcare data systems, gaining hands-on experience with enterprise-scale applications that serve public health initiatives and contribute to national healthcare quality improvement efforts.
• The HES team operates at the intersection of technology and public service, partnering with federal agencies to deliver impactful solutions; you will join a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability where your work directly supports national healthcare transparency and quality reporting goals.
• In this role, you will develop deep expertise in modern full-stack stacks (React, Node.js, Java, AWS, PostgreSQL), cloud-native development, and secure software engineering practices, positioning you for growth into technical leadership or specialized architecture roles within ICF’s growing health technology practice.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree plus 3+ years of experience, Associate’s degree plus 5+ years, or Master’s degree plus 1+ year of relevant experience
• 3+ years of professional full-stack development experience with modern design patterns, enterprise-scale systems, and Git version control
• 1+ year of professional experience building full-stack applications using React and Node.js
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance
• Must reside in the U.S., be authorized to work in the U.S., and perform all work within the U.S.; must have lived in the U.S. for at least 3 of the last 5 years

• Competitive pay range of $81,499.00 - $138,549.00 based on full-time employment
