Software Engineer, Secrets Infrastructure

📋 Description

• • As a Software Engineer on Stripe’s Secrets Infrastructure team, you will build and maintain the cryptographic identity and secrets management foundation that authenticates every person and service across Stripe’s global infrastructure.
• • Day to day, you will design and implement features in the certificate authority and secrets management systems, work across Go, Java, Ruby, and Python to support authentication integrations, collaborate with partner teams on security architecture, improve system reliability to achieve 99.99%+ availability, and participate in on-call rotations for critical infrastructure.
• • The Secrets Infrastructure team is a small, fully remote group with a presence in Seattle and New York City, responsible for foundational security systems including internal certificate authority and secrets platforms used across all Stripe services. The team values technical rigor, collaboration, and developer-friendly security tooling.
• • In this role, you will gain deep expertise in PKI, mTLS, secret management, and distributed systems security while leading cross-team technical initiatives, improving your skills in Go and infrastructure-as-code, and contributing to systems that underpin Stripe’s financial infrastructure at scale.
