- • Software Engineer - Support role focused on building internal tools and AI systems that empower the Support team to deliver exceptional customer service at Close, a bootstrapped and profitable CRM company with a 100% remote US-based team.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and shipping AI drafting tools, autonomous reply systems, workflow automation, reporting dashboards, self-service migration scripts, and diagnostic tools; owning projects end-to-end from identifying painful workflows to eliminating them; collaborating directly with Support Engineers and Reps to understand real-time needs; improving system reliability and integrations across Close, Stripe, Twilio, and other stack components; and experimenting with new approaches to continuously improve support operations.
- • Close is a profitable, bootstrapped company with a ~100-person, 100% remote team dedicated to building Close so that small and scaling businesses succeed in sales without being hindered by inefficient processes or tools.
- • In this role, you will learn to build high-impact internal tools that directly improve team efficiency and customer satisfaction; gain deep experience in AI-fluent engineering practices including semantic search/RAG systems; develop strong systems thinking and end-to-end ownership skills; thrive in an async-first, autonomous remote environment; and contribute to infrastructure that becomes foundational for future team innovation.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years of Software Engineering experience with ability to write clean, production-quality code
- • Degree or rigorous experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- • Fluency in Python, Rust, Go, or Typescript/Javascript with experience building information retrieval systems using semantic search / RAG
- • Strong systems thinking mindset with an instinct to automate manual processes and consider upstream/downstream consequences
- • Proficiency with AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Pi) combined with deep understanding of code behavior, debugging ability, and first-principles thinking
- • Clear async communication skills: readable technical specs, well-documented PRs, and Slack messages that reduce confusion in a fully remote environment
