Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Build and maintain the core infrastructure and systems that power Keycard’s agent-native identity and access control platform, including identity services, policy enforcement paths, audit logging, and runtime governance.
- • Design and implement Kubernetes operators, CI/CD automation, and developer platforms that enable engineers to ship reliable software with confidence, treating the path to production as a product surface.
- • Develop secure, resilient, and fault-tolerant distributed systems with strong expertise in consensus, coordination, and state management, ensuring deterministic guarantees around delivery, consistency, and availability.
- • Work across the stack—from low-level system components to high-level developer tooling—contributing to both core product services and platform infrastructure that support global-scale agent-native applications.
- • Create developer-facing platforms such as internal tooling, abstractions for CI/CD, and automation pipelines that reduce cognitive load and make reliable software delivery the default behavior for all engineers.
- • Collaborate directly with founders, product, design, and SDK teams to align infrastructure decisions with product vision and developer experience goals.
- • Help shape Keycard’s internal culture as an agent-native engineering organization by actively experimenting with and integrating AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, MCP) into daily workflows.
- • Implement and extend runtimes using technologies like eBPF, service meshes, custom Kubernetes operators, or plugin-driven architectures (WASM, dynamic policy engines) to enhance security and observability.
- • Contribute to the design and adoption of emerging agent protocols such as MCP and A2A, alongside established identity standards like OIDC, OAuth, and mTLS.
- • Build globally distributed systems with a focus on edge computing and intelligent routing to ensure agent-native applications remain fast, resilient, and context-aware across geographies.
- • Prioritize best-in-class observability in all systems, ensuring comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting to maintain trust and control in dynamic, autonomous workflows.
- • Lead by example in technical excellence, mentoring peers through clear written communication, async updates, and timely collaboration when needed.
- • Make strategic trade-offs between shipping quickly and laying long-term architectural foundations, using iteration to accelerate learning and reduce risk in uncharted technical territory.
- • Contribute to defining Keycard’s engineering culture, values, and practices as an early team member during a once-in-a-generation shift toward agent-native software.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proficient in Go and/or Rust for building platform and product systems
- • Proven experience building developer-facing platforms such as Kubernetes operators, CI/CD abstractions, or internal tooling
- • Strong expertise in distributed systems, including consensus, coordination, and state management
- • Demonstrated ability to thrive in 0→1 environments with high autonomy and ambiguity
- • Experience treating the path to production as a product surface by creating automation that enables reliable, confident shipping
- • Strong communication skills with emphasis on async written updates and clear technical documentation
🏖️ Benefits
- • Market-competitive salary and generous equity package (4-year vest, 1-year cliff)
- • Health, dental, vision, and paramedical coverage for employee and family
- • 4 weeks vacation, 11 statutory holidays, and 1 annual volunteer day
- • New MacBook Pro and $500 stipend for peripherals
- • Access to best-in-class AI tools for agent-native workflow development
- • Remote-first flexibility with team focused in North and South America
