- • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems for Deepgram’s automated order-taking platform tailored for restaurant environments.
- • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of backend systems with machine learning models and client-facing devices such as drive-thru speakers and in-restaurant hardware.
- • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance of production backend systems under real-world conditions including high noise, multi-microphone inputs, and variable audio quality.
- • Build and maintain integrations with third-party restaurant software systems including Point of Sale (POS), loyalty programs, payment gateways, and customer data platforms.
- • Implement industry best practices in system design, code quality, testing, and security to ensure reliability, scalability, and maintainability of critical order-taking infrastructure.
- • Optimize AI pipelines to improve speech-to-text accuracy in challenging audio environments, handle ambiguous customer requests, and rapidly adapt to new restaurant menus and dialects.
- • Push the boundaries of large language models (LLMs) and voice AI technology to solve historically difficult challenges in automated restaurant ordering.
- • Run controlled experiments to validate the product impact of new features, focusing on metrics like order accuracy, throughput, and customer satisfaction.
- • Work directly with leading restaurant enterprises and restaurant technology partners to identify high-impact problems and co-develop solutions.
- • Actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools as a core part of daily work, integrating AI into development workflows to enhance productivity and innovation.
- • Adapt quickly to a rapidly evolving AI-first environment where change is constant and prescriptive processes are minimal.
- • Proactively identify system bottlenecks, reliability issues, or integration gaps and propose and implement solutions without requiring detailed direction.
- • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning by participating in AI enablement workshops, technical talks, and conferences.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- • 4+ years of hands-on experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining backend infrastructure in production environments
- • Proven track record of building and deploying scalable, high-performance backend systems
- • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and deployment technologies, such as AWS and API design
- • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to a rapidly evolving startup environment
- • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team
