📋 Description

• Design and implement end-to-end infrastructure and features for the Codex desktop client application, focusing on the web layer that powers its browser-based functionality on macOS and Windows.
• Develop and maintain the backend C++ layer integrated with Chromium and Electron to enable hybrid agentic/interactive web browsing capabilities.
• Collaborate closely with product and design teams to conceive, prototype, and ship user-facing web browsing features for the Codex desktop application.
• Partner with the broader Codex engineering team to deliver a high-performance, stable, and secure client platform, including designing and implementing APIs primarily in C++.
• Contribute to deployment infrastructure using Python, TypeScript, and agentic skills to support the scalability and reliability of the application.
• Work within a small, experienced engineering team on a critical, rapidly growing product with high visibility across OpenAI’s ecosystem.
• Engage in full-stack development spanning low-level OS integration to high-level interaction design, with a primary focus on backend systems.
• Solve technically complex problems requiring deep expertise in browser environments, particularly Chromium and Electron-based architectures.
• Identify high-impact work independently and execute it end-to-end in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with minimal supervision.
• Communicate clearly and concisely across engineering, product, design, and security teams to align on technical direction and implementation priorities.
• Ensure the application meets stringent security and stability standards given its role as a core interface for AI-powered user interactions.
• Maintain and evolve the application framework that serves as the foundation for Codex’s desktop experience, balancing performance, security, and user experience.
• Contribute to code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical documentation to uphold engineering quality across the team.
• Support the integration of agentic behaviors into the web layer to enable dynamic, context-aware browsing capabilities powered by AI.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response for the Codex desktop client to ensure platform reliability and rapid issue resolution.
• Apply strong problem-solving skills to debug and optimize complex systems involving native code, web rendering, and inter-process communication.

• Significant experience building technically complex features end-to-end in a production environment
• Strong C++ development skills, particularly with browser environments such as Chromium and Electron
• Experience with hybrid desktop applications that integrate native code with web technologies
