- • Be the quality champion for Quartermaster’s mission-critical, hardware-connected web platform that keeps field operations running 24/7. You will own the entire QA lifecycle—from story grooming to post-release monitoring—ensuring every React component, Node endpoint, Socket.IO event, and AWS microservice behaves flawlessly under real-world chaos.
- • Architect and maintain a scalable, code-first automation framework that exercises React UIs, Express APIs, MongoDB aggregations, and WebSocket streams in a single integrated test run. Push the framework into CI so every pull request is battle-tested within minutes, not hours.
- • Design high-fidelity test data sets and hardware simulators that replicate edge cases: flaky LTE links, packet storms, JWT expiry mid-stream, MongoDB rollback, and sudden autoscaling events. Your mocks will save engineering weeks and protect customers from surprise outages.
- • Drive performance & reliability benchmarking for streaming features. Script K6/Artillery scenarios that emulate 10 k concurrent socket connections, measure P99 latency, and enforce memory-leak baselines. Surface regressions before they reach the field.
- • Champion accessibility and responsive UX. Automate WCAG 2.2 checks across Chrome, Safari, Edge, and mobile viewports; manually verify keyboard flows and screen-reader narratives so every operator can trust the interface in high-pressure situations.
- • Build a multi-environment test matrix (dev, staging, prod-shadow) with one-click spin-up via Terraform & Docker. Integrate test results into GitHub Actions, Slack alerts, and Jira dashboards so the whole team sees quality status in real time.
- • Partner with DevOps to embed canary analysis and rollback criteria in release pipelines. Your sign-off becomes the final gate that deploys new code to global edge locations serving police, fire, and logistics teams.
- • Triage incoming bug reports from support, reproduce issues across distributed logs, and create minimal failing tests that engineers can fix within the sprint. Maintain a living knowledge base of root-cause patterns to prevent recurrence.
- • Mentor developers on testability: PR reviews include contract tests, unit coverage, and observability hooks. You will lead monthly “Quality Guild” sessions to spread best practices in property-based testing, mutation testing, and chaos engineering.
- • Influence product roadmap by translating quality metrics (defect escape rate, MTTR, customer pain points) into actionable backlog items that balance speed, risk, and innovation.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years in software QA with at least 2 years testing real-time, event-driven systems (WebSockets, Socket.IO, or MQTT) at scale.
- • Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and one additional scripting language (Python, Go, or Java) to build custom test tooling.
- • Hands-on experience with modern automation stacks: Playwright or Cypress for UI, Postman/Newman for API, K6 or Artillery for load, and GitHub Actions or CircleCI for CI/CD integration.
- • Solid grasp of JWT OAuth2 flows, role-based access control, rate-limiting, and security testing basics (OWASP Top 10).
- • Nice-to-have: MongoDB aggregation pipeline validation, AWS SAM/CloudFormation testing, hardware-in-the-loop simulation, or prior work in logistics, IoT, or public-safety domains.
